CONDEM GOVERNMENT WINS AWARD FOR SERVICES TO SALFORD

CONDEM GOVERNMENT WINS AWARD FOR TRASHING SALFORD

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the annual Salford Star Mary Burns Awards, which are given out to honour stupid statements, dodgy dealings and iffy activities in the city over the past 12 months.

While the Salford Mayor, MP and Council have scooped most of the Awards this year, it would be unfair to leave out the masterminds behind all the misery, the ones sat stroking their fat white cats.

Ladies and gentlemen, queue up at yer food banks, get kicked out of yer houses and preen that poverty for the most disgusting Government in recent history, the ConDems…

This way down the red carpet please…

THE SALFORD STAR MARY BURNS AWARDS 2013

Category: Trashing Salford Again You Scuzzy Fat Cat Loving, Poor People Hating, Northern Wrecking, Back Pocket Lining Arseholes

Winner: ConDem Government

Ladies and gentlemen, where do we begin the citation for the winner of the Salford Star Mary Burns Trashing Salford Again You Scuzzy Fat Cat Loving, Poor People Hating, Northern Wrecking, Back Pocket Lining Arseholes Award? The list is endless…

The cuts - £97million to Salford Council in the last four years – to be followed by another £25million in 2014, and £31million in 2015. The expected figure for 2015 was £25million but the ConDems kindly added another £6million cuts last week. By 2017 Salford Council reckons there will have been £178million cuts.

Now, while the Salford Star believes the Mayor and Council should stick two fingers up at the ConDems and not impose the cuts, no-one should forget who's caused the chaos in the first place – the Tories, aided and abetted by the LibDems - the party that has been totally wiped out in Salford as a `thank you'.

Given that the lily-livered Mayor and Council aren't going to do anything apart from shrug their shoulders and do the dirty work, expect services to dramatically reduce, be privatised or to disappear overnight. 2014 onwards is going to be even more bleak, if that's possible.

On top of the cuts the ConDems have also given us this year…

The Bedroom Tax, which has pushed 41% of our social housing tenants into arrears and caused people to give up their homes for no apparent reason other than an ideological attack on the poor.

The NPPF (National Planning Policy Framework), which has given developers a green light to concrete over and industrialise green spaces, and let property speculators off with millions of pounds worth of planning payments.

Plus NHS ward closures and bed slashing, food bank culture, the rise of zero hour contracts, legal aid destruction, civil servant bullying, the forced privatisation of education though academies and free schoolscuts to pay and pensions...unemployment...the list goes on and on and on… For anyone who remembers Salford in the 80s and early 90s…you ain't seen nothing yet!

All this is happening on a national level as the Tories hand the country over to their big fat cat profiteering business mates – but the Salford Star judges thought it apt to give them our own special localised `appreciation'…

So ladies and gentlemen, get angry, get even and get even angrier for the winners of the Salford Star Mary Burns Trashing Salford Again You Scuzzy Fat Cat Loving, Poor People Hating, Northern Wrecking, Back Pocket Lining Arseholes Award…

The ConDem Governm-e-e-e-nt!!!

This Labour council spent millions on orchestras, salford reds, fountains, peel holdings and then blame everyone else for the financial mess were in, in this case the government, when the reality is, that it was labour that bankrupted not only this city but also the country. What's going to get labour back into power, dropping the above or keeping vital services open, as the above shows there is money there for these services to stay open, but for labour politically, it is better to close vital services and gain votes for the party. As the Labour Party have always shown, it's party first and people and voters second

See Sick of the lies comments below...There's loads of negative comments about the ConDems on the Facebook link to this article, as there are with most articles. If you don't think there is any anger at what the ConDems are doing we suggest you walk down any Salford street (outside Worsley) and ask the first ten people their views.

It seems that Salford star readers do not feel the same as the judges! This article has been live on Salford star for 7 days now and the only negative comment of the two is from Joe Oneill who just happens to be standing in a forthcoming by-election. Maybe the followers of this site actually know who is to blame........ Clap your hands together for the mayor and keep on putting your cross in the Liebour box, muppets.

FROM HANKY PARK TO LITTLETON ROAD VIA LANCASTER BOMBERS AND THE 'MONKEY RUN'

Salford's Margaret McHale turned one hundred this week as her six children and relatives gathered for a huge party at The Broughtons Care Home. Born in Hanky Park, Margaret moved around central Salford, to Ellor Street, Warburton Street and finally to Littleton Road, as part of the slum clearances.

A proper Salford lass, Margaret worked on Lancaster Bombers during the war and as a machinist in Strangeways, and, as the family partied with residents and staff, there were a zillion anecdotes that will echo with loads of local families.

'IT'S THROWING RESIDENTS TO THE WOLVES OF RAMPANT DEVELOPMENT'

Before a full meeting of Salford Council this morning, residents campaigning against development on green spaces in the city held a demonstration outside the Civic Centre.

Representatives of campaigns including from Campbell Road, Duncan Matheson, Walkden and Buile Hill Park then went into the meeting to hear City Mayor, Paul Dennett, say that the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework was "protecting green belt and green spaces", after Carol Boyce of Saving Our Neighbourhood had accused the Council of "throwing residents to the wolves of rampant development".
