SALFORD'S ONE NEW VIRUS CASE AS ARTIST RELEASES SHORT MASK MAKING VIDEOS

Salford has just one new confirmed case of coronavirus and no new deaths at Salford Royal Hospital, as the virus seems to be on the wane.

However, with face coverings now essential for travel and in other places, Salford artist and costume designer Magdalena Kij, has produced two very short easy to follow videos, via the Europia Art Collective, on how to make single use and reusable face masks, with commentary in English and Polish.

Salford has just one new confirmed case of coronavirus, bringing the total to 972, up from 971 the previous day. After sustained low levels of the virus over the last few weeks it does appear that disease is hopefully on the wane, not only in Salford but throughout Greater Manchester.

Manchester has six new confirmed cases of the virus, bringing its total to 1,703 (up from 1,697), followed by Wigan with two new cases (1,231 up from 1,229), Oldham one new case (1,143 up from 1,142), Stockport no new cases (1,074), Bolton one new case (1,048 up from 1,047), Trafford one new case (872 up from 871), Rochdale three new cases (873 up from 870), Tameside two new cases (846 up from 844) and Bury no new cases (809).

Happily, Salford Royal Hospital has announced no new deaths.

While the virus is petering out for the time being, to keep it at bay face coverings are now compulsory on public travel and in many other confined spaces. To help, Salford artist and costume designer Magdalena Kij, who is of Polish origin, has created two short videos, with separate English and Polish commentary, on how to make a reusable face mask and a single use mask, complete with filter.

"As a costume designer and mask-maker for wellbeing, I noticed that many videos showing how to make protective masks were quite long" Magdalena explains "So, I created these videos to be short, easy-to-follow and in English and Polish."
