SALFORD SECOND HIGHEST CORONAVIRUS CASE RISE IN GREATER MANCHESTER

Star date: 6th May 2020 VIRUS CASES IN SALFORD CONTINUE TO MOUNT Salford has seen confirmed cases of coronavirus rise from 727 to 758, up by 31, and the second highest rise in cases in Greater Manchester. Possibly connected to more testing being done for coronavirus, Salford has seen another spike in confirmed cases, up from 727 to 758, a rise of 31 cases, and the second highest rise in Greater Manchester, after Wigan which had a 43 case rise. Manchester now has 1,192 cases (up from 1,168), Stockport 896 (up from 888), Bolton 833 (up from 819), Wigan 818 (up from 775), Oldham 798 (up from 776), Trafford 637 (up from 627), Tameside 489 (up from 480), Bury 577 (up from 553), and Rochdale 557 (up from 535). As well as a large spike in cases, Salford has the most deaths per 100,000 people outside Greater London (93), while over a third of virus deaths are happening in care homes. Nobody from Salford City Council, not the City Mayor nor councillors, seem to be trying to explain this, or even attempting to explain it, or even raising it as an issue... Salford Royal Hospital has also announced one further sad death from the virus.

| Lockdown is still on, it has been for about the last 8weeks,but now Boris "baboon" Johnson on Sunday evening has said lockdown is still on, but has relaxed some of the laws regarding lockdown. You can now go to the parks and drive to the countryside and beaches as long as it's with members of your household and observe social distancing while there. The queues at all the fast food restaurants drive thru will STILL get busy and people will STILL waste over a hour sat in there automobile with the engine running polluting the fresh air we have had. I would rather wait till next month when there is no queue till I get my big Mac with fries, or wait till Gregg's and Martin's bakers are all open or better still go to a nice pub restaurant for a nice steak and chips and a pint of lager, that's what we're all missing. Be safe people. |

| Whats that Darren got against fast food? I love fast food. Went in tesco the other day, two fillet steaks for seven quid and corgettes ,spinach, and a few mushrooms for another two.Hot pan,olive oil coaating and 3 minutes later steaks are done. While steaks are resting, stir fry veggies, again another 3 minutes or so. Job done in 6 minutes two nice meals for four pound fifty each.I cannot afford to arse about queing up for an hour waiting to purchase this so called fast haute cuisine that is prefered by our affluent fellow salfordians who can afford such splendid fare.I cannot afford it, and what makes it even worse, the government put 20% tax on it. However, in normal times when the "restaurant" part of these establishments are open, they do provide valuable facilities for the community. Their houses of easement are superb in quality, and are often cleaner than those found in our hospitals and other public buildings. In my intinerant worker days,I often popped in for a cup of tea and a dump. |

| All these big supermarkets now have "one way" systems, basically arrows on the floor telling shoppers which direction they should be going around the supermarket. Some people are STILL not really bothered at all and are STILL going towards you and are even stood in front of you looking at the food products right where you are stood breathing on you at the same time. Not keeping 2metres apart. madness. I might buy a hazmat protection suit just for going shopping. Be safe. |

| Wow Darren you really are fearful aren’t you. As long as you are socially distancing and not coming into contact with others, why would it bother you so much? Me thinks you are probably doing some non essential B&M shopping and don’t want anyone else doing the same. |

| What I've noticed last few days in sunny LOCKDOWN salford, lots of VE DAY garden parties and groups of silly people of more than 10/15 people getting pissed and NOT KEEPING DISTANCE. Madness. Some parts of Salford at the moment is a hot spot for this deadly killer serious "big flu bug". Most Fast food restaurants drive thru are now mostly open and There is big queues at all these drive thru places last few days with people wasting over a hour to get served, Madness. Garden centres open next week. Madness. This Chinese flu will be around for a very long time unless people stop farting about and take it more seriously, do these people want this Chinese virus. Also, final point, Most of the younger generation don't even know what VE DAY is and are celebrating it. Be safe. |

| Wow -- that's a lot of reasons -- and I was under the impression that peoples ability to fight off corona was down to their age, body mass index and the other self inflicted diseases such as diabetes. If you keep fit, eat healthily and take exercise then you massively improve your health outcomes --- whats that got to do with Thatcher, banks, governments etc???? . Its a simple message .... look after your health. |

| The explanation and reason why so many people are dying in the deprived ares of the uk is class and the destruction of our great industries the deliberate dismantling of our social security system and the unequal distribution of wealth. Thatchers failed privatisation polices have put this country in a mess a health service cut through the bone unable to provide basic ppe or safety equipment for its loyal staff leading to many lost lives from this disgraceful neglect. The political leadership and all people of progress in salford and all the other areas where people have been deliberately impoverished by rotten cruel tory policies must now in one voice say enough in a united front against this failed system it has failed the nhs failed on public services on transport and completely failed to listen to scientific evidence concerning the covid 19 pandemic in january the government were told to act fast to stop the spread of this cruel virus and all they did was try to bullshit and bluff it away a total abrogation of responsibility. The chancellor sunak is whingeing about the cost of furlough currently 39 billion to the end of july this money is taxpayers money and keeps a roof over men women and childrens heads and feeds them and stops them from going to food banks another tory imposition on the poor we need to remember when people return to work and start to pay taxes that no questions were asked when 750 billion of tax payers money was used to bail out the failed banking system and led to years of faux austerity where the burden was put on the shoulders of working people while the greedy rich increased their income. It seems the country may be short of life saving equipment for our nhs staff and carers but the royal air force have been dropping millions of pounds worth of bombs on syria on some caves apparently that will kill the virus chaps pity the money wasted on this madness could have been given to the pensioners the disabled on ESA and other vulnerable groups who have not had a penny to help with the extra costs of living incurred like heating homes extra money for food and rising bills. At prime minister question time today mention was made of the great free press we have in the uk i think steve kingston and the salford star should be congratulated on the first class news they have produced through out this crisis the star is the voice of salford keep on keeping on. |
