OVER 24,000 BUS LANE CONTRAVENTIONS IN SALFORD

Salford is cashing in on its bus lane expansion, with 24,483 bus lane 'contraventions' validated between April 2018 and October 2019. The amount of cash brought into the city from £60 fines (£30 if paid quickly) has been reported as almost £500,000 during the twelve month period 2018-19. In April 2018 Salford City Council brought bus lane enforcement in-house from Manchester Council, with the aim, a Council report states,"to support the delivery of the roads needed to solve traffic problems in a 21st century society". The project is a partnership between Salford City Council's Community Safety and Parking Services teams, the report adds "who work together to determine whether an offence has been committed and then are able to access registered keeper details, issuing Penalty Charge Notices, receiving payment and/or dealing with complaints and tribunals". The project, the report states, quoting the tens of thousands of 'validations', "has proved successful". The number of 'validations' has been increased by the siting of five bus lane cameras, rather than the previous three. Salford Council is set to increase the number of bus lanes due to the Salford Bolton Network Improvements, or SBNI, a multi-million pound scheme that will see new lanes everywhere from the A666 to Chorley Road in Swinton (see previous Salford Star article – click here).

| People are really lazy, that's why they use cars. The worst are the parents dropping the kids off at school right outside the school gates, they live a 5/10 minutes walk from school. I live 500 yards from 3 schools and see it every school day. I also see everyday my neighbour's and the general public getting in there car and going half a mile to the corner shop, there could walk it in 5/10 minutes.. I DEMAND and URGE(famous FELSE sayings) people to ditch there cars and use there 2 legs and walk on short distances and also use public transport when needed to go to school, work and shops, but it wouldn't happen. Citizens will still get in there cozy warm automobile's and air pollution will get worse and there will be MORE traffic and gridlock. Pissed off citizens stuck in traffic in rush hour will still go down the bus lanes and get caught by a bus lane camera. More £££ for salford council. |

| obey the law or pay the fine surely you understand the principle darren thick int thead then you polluting whingers wont be pissed off while you choke stuck in congestion 3 million 500 thousand cars on the roads since 2010 thats getting on to 40 million cars on the road i suggest more cameras heavier fines for arrogant gonks like darren take them to the cleaners .whats needed more tram routes train stations lots of buses and even using your legs to walk thats what they are for poor motorists give us a break . |

| More bus lanes CAMERAS are planned in SALFORD. 5 New Cameras are to be installed to catch pissed off motorists wanting to get past gridlock traffic. The locations are outside crescent train station towards mcr, 2nd camera location is east lancs at Lancaster rd, 3rd location is broad street /Fredrick rd area, the 4/5 locations are at the wardley park and ride on the East lancs. The cameras are expected to be fully operational in the next 2months, bringing the total in salford to 10. Pissed off motorists will get fined 60quid, 30quid if paid within 14days, then after 28 days if still not paid, its 90quid. Motorists beware. |

| cars cause congestion car fumes are killing people time to end the car dependency todays roads are not fit to carry the enormous volume of traffic the weight of so many cars using the roads are causing roads to be in need of constant repair .there should be more bus lanes on every major road and no parking of cars on any main road or the pavement which cause obstruction and crack and ruin the pedestrian walkway measures to stop this selfish behaviour should be enforced with fines . it is strange that most law abiding people seem to moan when the law does not suit them if you break the law you pay a fine if it is shoplifting or driving in bus lanes the law is the law so obey it or dont do the crime . pollution deaths and the carnage road deaths and injuries caused by speeding and bad driving must be addressed to help to prevent this carnage . most car trips could be replaced by using your legs put one foot in front of the other its called walking if your fit try it leave your car at home or use public transport i use buses trains and trams and walk the buses and trams are not great and we need investment in more buses tram routes and trains if more people used them demand would be created and better services would come or car drivers are going to spend a lot longer periods of there lives stuck in traffic getting fat and breathing in each others car fumes. 36 million cars on this small islands roads today and more coming total break down on the way . |

| Bolton rd, pendlebury is next. A 2mile bus lane from agecroft fire station all the way to the M60 at the robin hood restaurant. Salford council will put quite a few bus lane cameras on this 2mile stretch to collect the fines. It's 30quid if paid within 14days, then it's 60quid after 14days, if you don't pay after 28days, it's a whopping 90quid. Beware Salford citizens. |

| Totally agree with Arnold, it would only be a revenue earner if you had to PAY to use it, like a toll road. Revenue is from people breaking the law, which is totally different! |

| Liverpool have got rid off lots of there bus lanes and traffic is moving looks better and the bus lanes that r left r timed like 7am to 9.30 in the morning and 3.30 in the afternoon peak times don’t think 🤔 in Salford and Manchester would mind that and open all weekend makes sense to me but this Salford council and there mayor want the cameras 🎥 in bus lanes to make up there budget up for there poor management off Salford we don’t need or want any more bus lanes spend our money on local things 😡😡 |

| It's all about making money for Salford council. 512,000 in 2017/18 and 456,000 in 2018/19, that's nearly a million quid in two years alone on bus lane fines. Also most of the buses now have cameras on em, so citizens of Salford, beware. |

| The people do not want bus lanes for many reasons and the thr labour party are ignoring what the people want. It's about time the people of salford set up our own local based party and kick labour out. We need a party by the people, for the people. |
