It's now getting on for twenty years since Buile Hill Mansion was last inhabited, and during that time there's been campaigns, consultations, rejected developer initiatives and more – but still the Grade II listed building lies empty and derelict. While Salford City Council has done its own consultation on the future of the Mansion*, there's a further chance for residents to have their say next Sunday 29th September, during a drop in running from 1pm to 5pm at Buile Hill Park Hall. "This is your chance to get involved from the beginning on the future restoration and improvements of Buile Hill Park and Mansion" states Ed Blaney who has organised the event "Developers Capital and Centric have been invited to come and hear what local people want to see happen next. "Housing in the Park has been ruled out" he stresses "The Mansion is going to be restored and I'm sure everyone wants it put back to public use. The Park could do with a makeover, plus whatever people want to happen in the depot land area. Come down, meet the developers and put forward your ideas. It's a magnificent building and means so much to so many people..."

| I have been to one of these so called have your say, voice your opinion etc things that Jim n Susan talk about. What a load of rubbish .they did this on my old block. Its all don't you agree this , dont you agree that. Dont you think having a red hot poker shoved up your arse is a good idea?,rather than have your balls cut off. Then sign this. Next thing you know, these bastards go to the council or whatever and say 77% of people thought it a good idea to have a red hot poker shoved up their arses. | I went to this today, to be told that it was, as suspected, organised and paid for by Centric
They weren't 'invited' at all, it was their show !
So, deceit from the outset....
Several people, working for Centric, talked to me as if the whole thing was effectively already decided, and all they wanted to know was what people want to see happen with the Mansion.
I left with the impression that something had been effectively agreed between the council and Centric.
What happened to it being out to tender, which would be a legal requirement, I'm sure??

| There's a simple calculation to be performed here;
will Capital and Centric's involvement in Buile Hill be greater than the value of the land (for house building) that it will receive from the Council?
If it is,then the proposed deal should be supported, if it the case that Capital and Centric's investment is less than the value of the transferred
land,then the deal should be rejected on the grounds
of "asset stripping"! |

| The phrase, 'meet the developers' almost makes Capital and Centric sound like they've officially got the job when it comes to redeveloping the Mansion which couldn't be further from the truth. I don't personally know either party involved but I'm aware that Ed Blamey already has business links with the developer, he has a business - a bar in one of Capital and Centrics redevelopment properties and that that same development company wanted to build houses in the centre of our community green space not that long ago. Buile Hill Park. Whether that's a conflict of interest is obviously to be seen but as a local resident who was furious at even the suggestion that houses be built in any park, petitioned strongly against houses being built in our park, I'd personally prefer that any developers that are going to be associated with the rejuvenation of The Mansion are officially invited by the powers that be through more official channels. (The Buile Hill Mansion Association and Salford Council). More official and less chance of misunderstandings all round that way. On a similar note about Haigh Hall redevelopment that's been mentioned, it's in trouble at the moment as the multi million pound contract has been terminated this month by Wigan Council due to a number of failings, promises not met by the developers and a battle over retaining the actual Public Right of Way of the Main Drive to the Hall!! (It's being fought for by Friends of Haigh Hall who are also on Facebook). I suppose it's a good cautionary tale that sometimes contracts for public buildings in the public's green spaces given over to private developers don't always have a happy ending for all concerned. The council have already thrown out this developers bid to build housing in the park, and have also had a survey done to ask what the public want to see happen in the park, yet they are involved in (have arranged?) this event to ask the same question.
Looks like an attempt to influence the situation ,and put a spanner in the works of the council's own plans.
Smells fishy !
Don't trust developers.
Ed Blaney is involved with the developer, Centric, and so presumably his motives are also not in residents' best interests, but Centric's.
I don't trust any of them.

| Why would anyone want to attend this event? Capital and Centric were the Developer who said the only the way to renovate the Mansion was to build houses in Buile hill Park. That idea was kicked out by the people of Salford. But here they are again. There is already a group ( Buile Hill Mansion association) which is already doing a great job fighting to get the park and mansion house done up. They were the group who actually stopped the houses being built. Something smells wrong here... |

| The Buile Hill Mansion Association is already working with the council and other bodies to help bring the Mansion back to life.
This event is nothing to do with this recognised group and has been put together by developers.
Please don’t go if the Mansion and park matter to you.
A supporters and residents group is already formed and working hard to give us a park to be proud of and not just to line a few fat cat pockets at the expense of our children’s enjoyment of a people’s park. |

| I will be there to have my say on the shambles of this park. This park needs a complete makeover. People need to go and voice there opinion. Salford council needs to look at over parks in the northwest like Haigh hall park in Wigan, tatton park and Heaton park. |
