The local Stop Trump Coalition and Stand Up To Trump groups, made up of trade unions, campaign groups and faith organisations, have organised a Manchester Together Against Trump rally tonight, Monday 3rd June, at 6pm in Cathedral Gardens, to protest against the US President's state visit to the UK.

"Last year, a quarter of a million mobilised to say 'No' to Trump's politics of hate and division" state the organisers "This time, we will take to the streets in even bigger numbers - to fight for migrant and refugee rights, for women's rights, against the corporate elites and for the future of our planet.

"The demonstrations aren't just about Trump as one man" they add "He is a symbol of the new far right, a politics of islamophobia and anti-semitism, of war and conflict, and walls and fences that are growing around the world.

"The British elite also has a disgraceful record of racism and bigotry, and on failing to tackle climate chaos" they explain "This is when we take stand together against our own 'hostile environment' as well as that of the American government..."

At the rally there will be speeches and music condemning what they call 'the word's #1 bigot'...

Donald Trump has said he refused a request for a meeting with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn during his state visit. The US president claimed Mr Corbyn was a "somewhat negative force" as he revealed that he had decided not to meet the Labour leader on his trip to London. Speaking during a press conference with Theresa May, Mr Trump said: "I don't know Jeremy Corbyn, never met him, never spoke to him. He wanted to meet today or tomorrow and I decided that I would not do that. "What if the British People elected a Marxist leader? isolation

To call Donald Trump anti-semitic is silly and to a certain degree shows our age of foisting words onto people for effect. Donald Trump recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Isreal, yet is anti-semitic? In the USA center-leftish (Democrats) and in the UK Labour party are the ones dealing with Anti-Semitism claims, not the right. Call Donald Trump for what he is (climate change etc), there's plenty of that. Not for what he is not.

So Trump.... the man who is the elected leader of the worlds most influential country - the first major international leader to recognise Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel - according to this gang an Anti Semite...... hilarious and very sad at the same time. And the labour party - who have quite rightly been accused of Anti Semitism - can't be bothered to meet the official elected representative of the nation who stood by us shoulder to shoulder 75 years ago on the beaches of Normandy (the reason for his state visit) Some people need to give their heads a wobble.

Why do we have to protest when a tosser the Americans elected comes over here on business? The Americans do not hit the streets protesting when one of our elected tossers goes to the states on business.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
