Following the major success of the Panto In The Park last December, held in Green Grosvenor Park, Lower Broughton, a new drama group has been set up so that local youngsters can create and produce their own show this year.
Green Grosvenor Park and Broughton Flood Group have teamed up with Up 'Ere Theatre Group to run drama classes every Monday, starting tomorrow, 13th May, for up to thirty young people from five years old upwards.
"I am happy to organise and set up these things for our children" says Keri Muldoon of Broughton Flood Group "I had these opportunities when I was a child at the youth clubs but children remind me now that they don't know what that wording means any more; 'Youth Club'. I find that alarming.
"Our kids should have chances core memories, hands on activities, joining in, bonding with others, learning new skills, confidence...the list goes on" she explains "Our aim is to run this drama class up to December for the children to get to do what they have learned, in their very own panto in the park at Grosvenor Green. We will help them build trust, make friends and most of all have fun..."
John O'Neill, of Up 'Ere Theatre Group, will be running the sessions and says: "Over a course of twenty weeks we will run sessions focusing on teaching different drama techniques, storytelling, performing, building a character, and confidence skills, with plenty of fun and games too, before starting to create a show that will be performed at the end of the year at the Park's event."
Anyone interested should just turn up on the night...
