This afternoon, Salford's Cinderella arrived in Lower Broughton, playing to a packed out audience in a special marquee erected in Green Grosvenor Park.
Father Christmas and his elves danced, sang and threw sweets and crackers to grateful children, while the ugly sisters couldn't find a bloke in the audience willing to snog them, and Cinders herself went through the hard times routine at the hands of the wicked stepmother and co. Boo!!!
Buttons got things revved up with cheers for the goodie (the Queen) and boos for the baddie (Trump), as the naughty elf was 'behind you' trying to nick presents from under the tree.
At the centre of it all was the Prince of Mocha - a Salford Royal 'but not with a three hour waiting time'...bum, bum! Would he find the foot that fit the wayward slipper? Would the ugly sisters get their comeuppance? Would Cinderella get her happy ending? Of course!
This was a proper community production by Up Ere Theatre Group with great performances all round. Before the panto began there was a top street dance exhibition by JD Dance, while later there was an exhibition by the Wrestling Academy. All in all a massive, affordable, entertaining, fun afternoon as the Panto on the Park proved a stunning success.
