LABOUR PARTY SMASHES IT IN SALFORD GENERAL ELECTION 2017

Star date: 9th June 2017 LABOUR PARTY INCREASES MAJORITIES IN SALFORD The Jeremy Corbyn effect was felt throughout Salford this morning, as standing Labour Party MPs cemented huge majorities in the General Election. Rebecca Long-Bailey increased her majority to 19,132 in the Salford and Eccles seat; In Worsley and Eccles South, Barbara Keeley increased hers to 8,379 (as predicted by the Salford Star poll); and Graham Stringer returned a healthy majority of 19,601 in Blackley and Broughton. Salford Labour Party candidates smashed it in the General Election this morning, returning huge majorities, reminiscent of the days when people said they weighed Labour votes in the city. While there was never any doubt that Labour would win all three seats in Salford, the mainstream media and pollsters were convinced that Jeremy Corbyn would have an adverse affect on the vote. It was the complete opposite as votes piled up for the Labour candidates with increased majorities for Rebecca Long-Bailey and Barbara Keeley. In the Salford and Eccles seat, Rebecca Long-Bailey added around 10,000 votes on the 2015 General Election result, increasing her majority from 12,541 to 19,132. Meanwhile, in Worsley and Eccles South, the Tories were targeting the seat where Barbara Keeley had a majority of 5,946. In the event, she increased this to 8,379 – as a Salford Star poll predicted accurately (The Salford Star poll predicted a majority of 8,986 - see here). In Blackley and Broughton, Graham Stringer's majority reduced from 22,982 to 19,601 but remains a massive lead. After the results were announced, Rebecca Long-Bailey said there was "no place on earth like Salford – warm hearts, a rich history and fire in our bellies for a better world..." She listed some of the "soul destroying" things she'd seen in Salford and Eccles over the last two years – zero hour contracts, sanctions, foodbanks... "I've seen public services being torn apart, industry starved of investment, and support for the most vulnerable cut" she added. "This is the sixth richest economy in the world and it's about time the people of Salford and Eccles shared in that wealth" she insisted "It's about time they were part of a new economy where Britain becomes a world leader in industry, and where that industry and the prosperity it generates reaches out to every region and every part in this city... It's about time that Salford was part of a Britain for the many not the few.... I intend to fight for them..." Barbara Keeley, meanwhile, called for "an end to austerity and an end to the erosion of our public services, particularly the NHS..." The night also saw the Claremont local ward by-election, won by Labour's Neil Reynolds with a majority of 1,845.

| Mr Davies you have done all these things! in what role? Ego no, Like Mary I walk the streets leaflet and try to help those in need did you go down with cash to the group on this site who asked? I don't' think so, we did ,did you take a section of overgrown land seek over £5,000 and put it back in to community use? no, we did, did you take kids off the streets and taught them to fight? no I did. Did you go to two social housing estates and help clean the streets and gardens I did so don't preach stick with your Labour friends and your keyboard. |

| Firstly, thank you to those in Claremont who voted for Republic.
In short:
I am ex Labour who was disgruntled with decisions made by a Salford Council run by Salford Labour. So much so, i started my own party in 2016. Politics can only benefit from more politicians/people who are passionate about getting things done, like Mary Ferrer and Joe O`Neill.
The people of Salford deserve better. Politics needs to change for the better. |

I can't understand how people can be brainwashed,just read on this site what OUR elected members are doing to the most need within OUR communities. Wage rises to the fat cats, Councillors getting paid for sitting on this and that committee. Not taking planning fees. Topping up again and again the white elephant known as AJBell stadium. That didn't stay for long being "SALFORD Community Stadium' Now looks like the salford red devil s will change their name and could move out of the city.NO, don't think I will be retiring just yet. |

| Hi Dear Readers,
Apologies for the delay in reporting what was it was an interesting General Election (and Claremont By Election) Count Night at the AJ Bell Stadium!! I’ve only just got up…well, at my age, I need PLENTY of beauty sleep!! What did I notice and jot down in my diary of fashion and political faux passes? Here we go!!
Too many “size-challenged” persons in tight fitting clothes showing VPLs, and excess hair-product and beards – and that wasn’t just the women!
Too many earnest, passionate kids trying to be clever making rude remarks to experienced political opponents. (Overheard put-down [Loved it!!]: “My little finger nail has more political experience and knowledge than you have in your whole body. When your voice has broken, come and debate with me!) Wonderful put down – I wish I had thought of it, and I’ve put it in my Filofax for future reference!
Loud bangs heard when the Exit Poll was published from Miserable Tories (a necessary prerequisite to BE a Tory, I understand) when their jaws hit the floor. My sources inform me that the cruel truth was delivered to one of the Tory candidates in the Car Park as he arrived, the news being delivered in a kindly manner and with love by a UKIP member.
Our well-loved City Mayor was seen many times surveying the scene from on height (well he is a big man – and he doesn’t wear risers in his shoes) gliding mayorally, if not regally, around the Counting Hall with his accompanying sycophantic acolytes, none of whom would carry his badge of office – his non-complementary but probably complimentary Association of Labour Councillors canvas shoulder bag!
And then…DRAMA in the Candidates, Guests etc Refreshments area (where they tried to charge £2.20 for a coffee till put right by a council official who told the staff that hot drinks and water were to be put on the Council Tab (I wonder how much THAT will cost cash-strapped Salford Council? Diary Note: Expect further cuts!!), two very strapping butch manly Policemen came in and spoke to an elderly gentleman sporting a Labour sticker, then taking him to a side room. My sources tell me that the elderly gentleman – a former Councillor they thell me - had been extremely rude to a Parliamentary Candidate in front of Council and Security door staff who I understand, but cannot confirm or verify, reported the incident to the Police; I hope that Labour will take this matter seriously, him bringing the Party into disrepute and issue a public apology to the said candidate! It does not reflect well on our broad church.
The evening progressed, and whilst imbibing at the main entrance on a cigarette (yes, dears, I KNOW they are bad for my health but at 92 who cares!!) a vision of loveliness, beauty and conviction-politics appeared before my eyes – it was RBL. It thought that she was floating on air but then realised as she approached, she was wearing the most-ever Devine shoes – high heeled, well-crafted and sufficiently tasteful amount of diamante. The Counting hall greeted her with an hushed reverence and heard her acceptance speech which ranks, in my opinion with Elizabeth I’s Tilbury Speech or Golden Speech!
I assumed she had hugged her Grandfather on the podium then I realised it was Chris Barnes – the Liberal Democrat/Liberal/UKIP (but never Green) candidate. It must have been a friendly goodbye as, thankfully, he has retired from Politics along with other the other members of the Gang of 3 – Mary Ferrer and Joe O Neill.
BEST NEWS OF THE DAY – The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate who now sports a (wilted) Red Rose and who will probably never be given a safe Labour seat as he is regarded as the best Labour leafletter in Weaste and Seedley did NOT take out his false teeth in front of a Parliamentary Candidate, Council Candidate and two Agents as he did in 2015 at the exit to the AJ Bell Stadium!
Well done RLB – we’ll catch up at the next General Election this November.
PS – What unrepeatable gossip and information one acquires at Counts!! But they are in my diary!!!

Labour at General elections always do well why I don't have a clue. But ask yourself a question have you in any role walked this city and dealt with people with children living in accommodation fit only for pigs? visited people feared to go out due to people shooting up in the alleyways? met with people facing eviction? fought to stop bailiffs entering and taking goods? fought to keep people in jobs. Put in petitions where Labour Councillors fear losing the whip? no, well I have, People like you make me vomit key board warriors please do us all a favour crawl back with your Labour Friends people like us will carry on raising issues and fighting where people have no voice, Labour have screwed this city if you can't see it I will get you a set of pound land glasses. 120 votes away taking out Labour why should I give up because of pricks like you? no. |

| An amazing result for the Salford Labour MPs in increasing their votes! Maybe now Felse, ONeill, Ferrer, Mr Brexit, David Cameron and the others who continually slate Labour will now STFU, the people of Salford had once again spoken and we have got what is best for the city. You are all very old news, has-beens, who will never again have any 'power' that you so desperately want.
