HOW SALFORD VOTED IN GREATER MANCHESTER MAYOR ELECTION

Star date: 5th May 2017 SALFORD VOTES 64.2% FOR ANDY BURNHAM Salford people overwhelming voted for Andy Burnham in today's Greater Manchester Mayor election, with 64.2% backing his bid slightly more than his 63.41% vote from the whole of Greater Manchester. The biggest vote for Burnham in Salford came in Claremont with 71%, and in Walkden and Barton with 69.3%. To see how Salford voted click here...

The new Labour Party Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, was overwhelmingly supported by the people of Salford, with an average of 64.2% support, and every single ward in the city, bar three, giving him over 60% of the vote. Burnham's highest rankings were in Claremont, with 71%, and in Walkden and Barton, both with 69.3%. In contrast, only 22.4% of the electorate supported the Conservative Party candidate, Sean Anstee, in Salford, with his best percentage of votes coming in Worsley (39.5%), Kersal (37.6%) and Boothstown (37%). Elsewhere, Jane Brophy, for the LibDems, polled 4.5% of the vote in Salford; UKIP polled 3%; the Green Party 2.9%; English Democrats 2.1%; the Independent candidate Marcus Farmer 0.6%, and the Independent candidate Mohammed Aslam polled 0.5%. The Tories are targeting Worsley and Eccles South in the forthcoming General Election but, based on the votes in those wards for this GM Mayor election, they have absolutely no chance, with an average of 25% support, against Labour's 63% support. MP Barbara Keeley looks well safe.

| So it finally comes out - the truth exposed. Mr Felse was not an agitprop, political activist or just a normal campaigner...he was an out and out tory, hiding behind a band like the English democrats in order to get appointed. Someone from Chorley House should send him a bill for all the money wasted changing to a directly elected mayor (his part in it)and the referendum before it. Getting into public office by deception is never a good idea, Mr Felse, eventually - you get found out. |

| Thank You everyone for your kind comments. Fact is I first stood for the Conservatives in Yorkshire at a Christmas panto. I was the pantomime policeman, it was 1970, more an allo-allo copper with a Yorkshire acent. The event was a charity fund raiser for a new Racial Harmony group. I had my first ever curry at that event. It was where I met Harold Walker MP and he asked me to be his business secretary to compile the Health and Safety at Work Act. He was the Labour MP at this none political evening and started my unusual journey. But we must put Country before Party and People before Politics. Yes, I do back Theresa May for Brexit. |

| Tories win in Worsley is a price worth paying if we have to put everything into making sure Rebecca wins the Salford seat. She is going to be next leader of Labour Party. Tory Party is stupid but not stupid enough to ask Felse to stand for them against her. He is hated and will get a full on fight to defeat him. Rebecca will be the new Leader for sure. |

I voted for Burnham because he was the best candidate to fill the role as GM mayor. I will vote for Theresa May because she is the best candidate to fill the role as PM. Horses for courses. I suspect many others will take a similar attitude. Bab's - 'well safe' - you're havin' me on ! She's got a real fight on her hands this time.Bookies can't call it and i think they're a better guide than the Star. The Star only has a handle on one half of 'Salford'.
