THOUSANDS MARCH AGAINST DONALD TRUMP AGAIN IN MANCHESTER

Star date: 4th February 2017

"We're here today to say that we're not going to let ourselves be divided, we're going to stand together and fight back..." Alex, Manchester Trades Council

For the second time in a week, thousands of people came out on the streets of Manchester to stand together against Donald Trump and the appeasement of Theresa May.

After a big rally in Albert Square, over three thousand people marched through the city centre chanting anti-Trump slogans, with Salford well represented.

After Monday night's huge rally and march in the centre of Manchester against Donald Trump and all he stands for, the scene was repeated this afternoon with a big rally in Albert Square, followed by a march that snaked around passed the Arndale Centre and down Deansgate.

Alex Davidson, from Manchester Trades Council, had the crowd cheering at the Albert Square rally, saying that trade unionists will lead the fightback against the "foul and reactionary forces that produce Trump, produce Theresa May, produce Paul Nuttall and Marine Le Pen...

"Across the Western world, since the economic crash of 2008, the rich and powerful have been looking to use racism and division to keep us distracted and divided, rather than fighting the people who the blame belongs to for the mess they've made of our societies" he added "That is the rich and the powerful and the bankers and the war mongers. We're here today to say that we're not going to let ourselves be divided, we're going to stand together and fight back."

Meanwhile, a message of defiance was also brought by a student at Manchester University...

"We as the public are not going to surrender our values of humanity, equality and compassion and unity under the fear created by people who are trying to manipulate us while they cause destruction in the Middle East" she said "Refugees are not the cause of terrorism they are the victims of terrorism..."

Lots of speakers also called for mass demonstrations when Trump begins his official visit to the UK... "He will not even get out of the airport" said one.

The good natured protest was well received by shoppers in the city centre, with many taking photos and others joining in the chants...

I don't usually do this but feel compelled to respond to Me b r....I believe that asking for social justice is a noble thing, be you a copper, homeless, magistrate, factory worker, shop owner, single parent or street trader. YOU are one of the reasons why this country is, and I quote with grammatical errors, 'f*ck up'. As I understand it nobody went on the rampage, people just gathered to show their concern about, my opinion - a madman holding one of the most powerful seats in the world. I would argue with the Salford Star and agree the the descent of peoples lives, globally, is a concern. You nailed that! Now, forgive me, I must go for a shower, work tomorrow...

A drone would probably be more helpful than a cherry picker but they're very expensive.

Have to agree with BRex. 3000 people out of 2,500,000 in Greater Manchester is hardly Xmas. But can add on each of my around the world journey's I found the USA customs guards less than a welcoming experience. Very strict on entry checks. Pity we have not had stricter control to date in our UK.

See Me B r exit comment below - A bit difficult to show the true extent of the crowd when it stretches all along Deansgate - sorry, didn't have a cherry picker with us! PS Mr 'descent people', learn to spell... and 'rubber bullets'? You're showing your true colours now

@salford star, can you take some wide angled photos of the marches, let's see how realy big the crowds realy are. All I've seen is close up shots of groups of people, trying to make the crowds looked bigger than they realy are. Again just the ( SJWs ) socialist justice warriors spitting their dummies out again because they carn't get their own way. How many of these people in the crowd have actualy got a job. Funny when these people are interviewed they haven't got a clue what their marching for, these people are a perfect example why this country is so f*ck up. To all the people on these marches, get a wash, get a job and get out of ours, "the descent peoples" lives. There's 65 million people in this country, these few hundred people go on the rampage and they think they represent the majority in this country, news flash, you don't. Time to get out the rubber bullets and put these people back in their box.
