UK GOVERNMENT TO DEPORT MANCHESTER CAMPAIGNER NEXT WEEK
|
|
Star date: 25th November 2016 HOME OFFICE MAKING UNLAWFUL ATTEMPT TO REMOVE DIANNE NGOZA Dianne Ngoza the Zambian nurse and Manchester anti-destitution campaigner is set to be deported from the UK next Wednesday - despite having an outstanding human rights application pending. "It is beyond my comprehension that the Home Office are doing this before looking at the evidence in my case" Dianne said from Yarl's Wood detention centre, where she was taken from Dallas Court in Salford last week "I am exceedingly grateful to all the people who are working for me and supporting me, without them I would be lost." Dianne Ngoza, the Zambian nurse and anti-destitution campaigner who was detained at Dallas Court in Salford last week, despite having an outstanding human rights application pending, is set to be deported next Wednesday. Dianne, who has lived in the UK for 14 years and has a daughter here, was taken controversially to the Yarl's Wood detention centre in Bedfordshire and has since been treated badly according to friends (for full background see previous Salford Star articles – click here and click here and click here). A vegan, Dianne has been given mainly fruit to eat and has only had two proper meals. Hannah Bowler, aged 21, from Flixton, Bedfordshire, is a friend of one of Dianne's supporters in Manchester. She visited Dianne in Yarl's Wood last night and said that, although she had never met Dianne before, she looked exhausted and was talking constantly about food. "She really wants fresh vegetables, fresh food, denying her food and toiletries is completely unacceptable" says Hannah "She needs shea butter for her skin and she told me they won't let me or anyone else bring it in for her." Meanwhile, Mervyn Cross, the solicitor representing Dianne, says she had been subjected to a long-standing and ongoing delay by the Home Office in the processing of her original application for leave to remain in the UK. Dianne submitted subsequent applications in the summer which have been refused but, on the morning she was detained, she had sent further evidence in support of her application. The Home Office is legally obliged to consider this evidence before she is removed from the UK. "We, as the instructing solicitors, were not served with a copy of these removal directions, despite the fact that the Home Office have confirmed by email that they are aware we are acting for her" explains Mervyn Cross "We have attempted to contact the Home Office but have been informed we are not allowed to speak to the case owner. "Clearly for the Home Office to issue removal directions when Dianne has an outstanding human rights application pending is unlawful" he adds "We will be challenging Dianne's removal if the Home Office do not confirm that they will suspend it." Yesterday, Mr Cross made an application for a temporary admission to the UK for Dianne which would allow time for her case to be looked at properly and for a bail application to be made. The Home Office received this application yet still issued her with removal directions today. Dianne, speaking from Yarl's Wood says: "It is beyond my comprehension that the Home Office are doing this before looking at the evidence in my case. I am exceedingly grateful to all the people who are working for me and supporting me, without them I would be lost." Lucy Powell, MP for Manchester Central, has written to Immigration Minister Robert Goodwill expressing concerns about Dianne's case – and about her lack of access to sufficient food. The sentiments have also been echoed by the community groups that knew and worked with Dianne "Caritas Salford is very concerned about the time this lady, whom we know well, is being detained pending a decision on bail" says Mark Wiggin, Director of Caritas Salford "We are also worried about the concerns expressed by people in touch with Dianne on the failure to meet her basic human rights on food and communication." Dr Rhetta Moran, of the Manchester human rights charity RAPAR adds: "Dianne's rights are currently being violated by the Home Office - the right to access due legal process, the right to food, and the right to care for your own body, in this instance by moisturising your own skin. "These rights exist because ordinary people stood together and demanded them" she explains "The time to defend those rights, and assert them for Dianne and every detained person, is here and now." What you can do to help...
Write to the Immigration Minister asking him to intervene and suspend the flight until Dianne's new evidence has been properly considered, and copy letters to the three Salford MPs and Lucy Powell, Dianne's MP, Nigel Evans MP for Ribble Valley and to kath.northernstories@gmail.com who is handling the media on this case. There is a model letter below... For more information check the RAPAR website http://www.rapar.org.uk/dismantle-destitution.html MODEL LETTER FOR ROBERT GOODWILL
To Robert Goodwill, Minister of State for Immigration at the Home Office Email: robert.goodwill.mp@parliament.uk and to MinisterforImmigration@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk Dear Robert Goodwill Re: DIANNE NGOZA Date of Birth 28.08.1969 Home Office ref no: 021042760 I am writing to you regarding the case of Dianne Ngoza, a Zambian nurse who has lived in the UK for 14 years. She is currently detained in Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre even though fresh evidence for her case has been submitted to the Home Office. I have now been told that Dianne has received removal instructions from the Home Office for Wednesday, 30th November. I find this latest move incomprehensible as it is my understanding that removal from the UK cannot take place if fresh evidence has still to be considered. Further, that fresh evidence was submitted before Dianne was detained at Dallas Court Reporting Centre, Salford, on 16th November. In those circumstances, it seems unreasonable and a waste of public resources to detain her let alone remove her from the UK. I am also concerned that, while in Yarl's Wood immigration removal centre, Dianne has not been provided with an adequate vegan diet. Dianne is being denied the right to have her case properly considered before she is removed from the UK. She is also being denied the right to adequate food. Dianne is a very valued member of our society and has many friends across the North West and in other parts of the UK. She has received widespread support from refugee charities, church and community organisations, and trade unions because, as a volunteer with many of these organisations, she has worked tirelessly for the most vulnerable members of society. Dianne has carried out her voluntary work despite her own difficulties. She came to this country on a work permit in 2002 but her visa was not renewed due to errors made by immigration solicitors. Since 2010, she has had to rely on friends and organisations for food, money and shelter Dianne was brought up in Zambia but she worked in South Africa for several years before coming to the UK and has not lived in Zambia for more than 20 years. She has no relatives or contacts there and her private life consists of her daughter, who lives in the UK, and her church, community groups and wide network of friends. The UK is now Dianne's home. She has been told that, although she has the right to appeal against the Home Office decision to refuse her case, she must do this from Zambia. She does not have a Zambian passport but, in any case, if she was returned she would not have the financial resources or contacts to enable her to appeal. I am urging you to intervene in this case as a matter of urgency. The UK is the only home Dianne has now and she can make an extremely valuable contribution to our society. I believe that, on human rights grounds, she should be given leave to remain in the UK. Yours sincerely, (Your name, address and, if you belong to a church or organisation, please include that too)

| I didn't expect you to have an answer ha. Regarding the Salford star, I like to come here to read people's opinions. When I read blatant lies and propoganda I feel the need to say something. The editor here at the Salford Star I'm sure knows what I am talking about. It's very telling about you as a person Tahir that you get offensive as soon as someone poses a different opinion to yourself. This isn't high school. There is no need for all these lies and trying to demonise the home office for simply following a perfectly legal process. My family were allowed onto this country by going through this exact legal process and I will always be grateful for this. It annoys me when people who don't have the slightest clue on all the good this country has done for people like me and my family start criticising the government. At least get your facts straight if youre going to do so. This country is one of the world's leaders when it comes to human rights. Remember that. |

| Your childish attempts at insulting me Tahir are pointless. I would have to value your opinion for that to work. The reason I understand the legal process is that my family have gone through the exact same process. They have done things legally. You claim the UK "is falling apart" well then leave! Instead of complaining and adding to the problem why don't you leave? This country is an incredible place to live and we are all very fortunate to be able to call the UK our home but we have to fight to keep it this way! Your ignorance and blatant disregard for the legal system in this country is not what we need or want here. Now do you have any genuine point to make or are you content with just your childish passive aggressive behaviour? |

| @Concerned Citizen. In my opinion, you certainly show signs of being severely mentally disturbed. Are you currently under the care of a Psychiatrist or Psychologist? You say that you do not insult people, but you then go on to insult the Salford Star's Editor, and call people who read his stories "gullible". You state that you know the true state of affairs concerning this nurse and the home office. Is one suppost to believe you work for the home office? In my opinion, if you are a home office official, then that really does explain why the UK is falling apart. In my opinion Immigration is not the reason why the UK is falling apart. The UK is falling apart because our current Government has us fighting each other instead of working side by side. It's called "Distraction Tactics". While we all fight one another, the Government can put through any bill they want unapposed. So please stop insulting the Salford Star and it's Editor. I have read the Salford Star long enough to know it stands up for the "People of Salford", and ensures a balanced, and honest approach when reporting and publishing news worthy stories. Fair and honest reporting could achieve so much! Instead you are just misleading a load of gullible people. No need to be offendended by my comments. You write from one side of the argument. | How dare you! How hypocritical. I haven't insulted anyone yet you felt the need to throw out one of the worst accusations at somebody you do not know when you implied I was "racist". That's disgusting behaviour. You had absolutely no evidence for your accusation yet you claim i am the one using insults? All I have said is you and others do not understand the situation Dianne is going through. Fortunately I know exactly what she is going through. I understand the law and I understand how she has broken that law. She may have done so without intention. I am not accusing her of anything deliberate. Yet you had the nerve to accuse me of racism simply because I believe in following the correct legal procedure. We have these laws for a reason! You do not want a debate. You simply want to try and act superior.
The fact you get your "facts" from the salford star tells me everything I need to know. This is why you don't have a clue what's going on and instead just throw out ridiculous and false accusations. I suggest you research the legal process regarding immigration to see where Dianne went wrong. The Home office are only following procedure. |

| @Concerned Citizen. It is a known fact that I rely a great deal on The Saford Star to provide me with "The Right Facts" and "The Right Information". This does not make me a "Idiot" "Concerned Citizen", but a person who is sceptical of "Commercial News", which in my opinion, does twist the facts of any news story. The Salford Star has no agenda or political bias. The Salford Star publicises news stories that inform the general public of the truth, and takes into account both sides of the story. In conclusion, and in my opinion, it is you that has not fully understood this story. As stated before, everyone likes a good debate, but you do not debate. In my opinion you attack a person with a great deal of insults. Therefore, I believe you know how to insult a person, but you do not possess the ability to debate. So could I please request that you write your points of view, and leave out your personal opinions of individuals who comment on the Salford Star. Kindest Regards, Tahir Chakotai, (Independent Housing Advocate). |

| It is evident you do not understand the law in this case. The lady in question here has been here for 14 years! She admits her Visa ran out. When did it run out? When did she make attempts to renew the visa? The simple thing about this is she wouldn't be in this position right now if she had followed the law! Perhaps you need a lesson in the law of the land? The home office have not unlawfully delayed her appeal. Again you and many others involved in this ridiculous organisation (Rapar) do not understand the law. It is clear you feel you are above the law. Do you get all your facts from Salford star articles? Laughable. I suggest you read the articles again and educate yourself on the law. It's not unreasonable to expect Dianne like anyone else should follow such law. Your arrogance and ignorance helps no one. |

| Dear Concerned citizen, I have done a WORD Search on this Article and there are NINE times at present that the word “illegal” appears, all of which are in the Comments section. The word ILLEGAL does NOT appear anywhere in the Article! Perhaps you need to take some lessons in Reading and Comprehension? // //. The secondary heading to the Article is HOME OFFICE MAKING UNLAWFUL ATTEMPT TO REMOVE DIANNE NGOZA. Dianne has not tried to avoid the law rather than follow it; she came here on a Visa and as her solicitor says, she had been subjected to a long-standing and ongoing delay by the Home Office. She has not cost the “taxpayer” she has worked as a Nurse, and also in other ways contributed to society. // //. As to your amusing comment about being ashamed to be associated with people such as me, I can only say “Thank goodness for that”. It is even more hilarious that you states that I “feel above the law”. Those who know me are aware of how often I have instigated legal challenges, in which I quote and use the exact wording of the Law, and in every single case I have WON. I Win mainly because I use the Law. |

| Read the reports. As biased as they are it's clear Dianne has been here illegally for a number of years. She is only being asked to follow the same legal process everybody else has to when they come to the UK.
Do you know what the word "racism" even means? It's disgraceful you would throw out that word so flippantly. By doing so you are only adding to the problem faced by people of all races. I haven't even mentioned race. Not once. I have only stated that Dianne should follow the correct legal process. You should be ashamed of yourself for even bringing race into the debate. It's a non issue. |

| @Concerned Citizen. Please, please tell me where it states, withiin this Salford Star story that this lady is an "illegal immigrant"? It does state that the "Home Office" have unlawfully delayed her appeal to stay in this country". That does not make her an "Illegal Immigrant", but a "Victim of Incompetence" by the "Home Office". What on earth gives you a right to condemn a person for commenting on the Salford Star. Your alleged raving could be interpreted, in my opinion, as an act of racism. In my opinion, you obviously have no spine, as you hide your true identity, and use an alias to attack, not debate a persons opinion, point, or view. In conclusion, and my opinion, I personally am not ashamed of Mrs Heaton's comment, but I am ashamed of the underline racist comments that people have wrote, concerning this story. In my opinion, the world needs more people like this nurse and Mrs Heaton, and less people like you. Kindest Regards, Tahir Chakotai, (Independent Housing Advocate). |

| Zambia needs nurses - from a report on healthcare in Zambia - this is also the case for many other similar countries:
"Anyone in the country may use the health system but access for many is theoretical rather than realisable because doctors and nurses are overworked. Hospitals and clinics are underfunded.
The country has suffered the fate of many in the underdeveloped world – a skills drain of qualified medics to richer lands. Zambia is typical of those countries that have suffered, highlighted in a report published by the British Medical Journal in November 2011."

| @Gaynor Heaton if you read the report it is well stated that Dianne is illegally in this country and has been for some time. There is no nastiness in saying she like every other person in this country has to follow the legal system. Frankly it ashames me to be associated with people such as yourself who feel above the law. Your comments regarding British people moving abroad are completely irelevant. If Dianne wants to live in the UK then she should go about it the correct way and follow the legal process. It seems she has tried to avoid the law rather than follow it. Her campaigning has no relevance. She will be treated the same as everyone else. We as a country do so much for others and if people didn't attempt to take advantage and thus cost the taxpayers millions every year then we could do even more. The only reason Dianne is being removed is because she is here illegally. It's as simple as that. |

| I am appalled at the attitude of some of those who leave comments on the Salford Star, and am feeling ashamed to be English. Such nastiness, arrogance and malice simply because someone was not born here. I am horrified that she is being parted from her Daughter as that is clearly a Human Rights Breach. I also wonder where the evidence is that Dianne was an “illegal immigrant”, as that is not what is stated in the report. // // Perhaps those of you who think she and others like her should return to the country of their ancestors would like to consider the fact that America and Australia were colonised mainly by people from the UK. Perhaps all Americans, Australians and others of UK decent should be forcibly sent back? Why is it that when UK citizens emigrate to a variety of other Countries they are not considered “immigrants” but adopt the farcical pseudonym of “ex-Patriot”? Such double standards! Personally I wish there were more people like Dianne in this country; at least she has Morals and Ethics. I agree with Tahir, her imminent deportation is more to do with her Campaigning. |

| So far, I have sat back and read the articles concerning this case, only to realise there is a pattern of behaviour that cannot be ignored. In my opinion, the deportation of this lady has nothing to do with her immigration rights. If this lady had sat at home, and did nothing to support others, she would probably still be living in the UK. But this lady chose to fight for others, and even worse, people were listening to her. In my opinion, the Government cannot allow someone to talk sense, and protect those who are to weak to fight back. In my opinion, the government cannot allow such "free will" to thrive, so first, in my opinion, they criminalise this lady, and destroy her incredible reputation, and then they throw the problem out of the country. In conclusion, and in my opinion, this lady deserves a medal, for standing against the masses to protect others, and certainly does not deserve to be booted out of the country. This lady may not have been born in the UK, but has earned her right to stay. She has defended those who needed to be defended. How many people within the UK can say the same. In my opinion, most people sit back, while atrocities are undertaken by the government. In my opinion, most people in the surrounding areas, lack a spine, however this lady has a spine of steel, and was willing to stand out of the crowd and be counted. All I can say to the "Home Office" is "Shame On You!!!!". |

| Concerned citizen raises a great point, this woman would have to renew her work permit every couple of years to be able to work and stay here legally. She would have known after her last work permit ran out that she needed to reapply and make sure she was here legally. Maybe the salford star can ask Dianne when did her last work permit run out and what did she do to make sure it was renewed, or did she do what most immigrants do, that is enter this country on a work/education permit then try to disappear into the population then reappearing a number of years later claiming to have made a life here and so should be given a right to permanent residence in this country. Sorry it was Dianne's job to make sure she had the right documents to be in this country, it's not the job of the immigration department to chase her to make sure she has the right documents. I think this woman is just one of a long line of people playing the immigration game. Maybe the star can ask her some robust questions instead of the limp wristed questions that get asked of illegal immigrants and then come out with some of the usual sob stories. |

| Yes Arthur this country should't be raiding other countries, especially third world countries of their talent, we should be traning our own to be nurses and doctors, why should the NHS train people in this country when we can save millions in training fees and raid other countries of people the've spent millions training, seems a very socialist thing to do. Mind you we have the world trying to move here, might as well have doctors and nurses who can speak the language to treat them here too. I'll take it cheap immigrant labour dosn't effect you Arthur, exept when you get your car washed on the cheap. Seems socialists don't give a damn about cheap immigrant labour forcing down British workers wages, as long as you can get your car washed on the cheap. |

| Mr b.r exit is quite correct.
The NHS has become an international health service.
Over 14% of all qualified clinical staff and over 25% of doctors [not GPs] are foreign.
From the EU there are 4% of registered nurses and 10% of the doctors.
Of course Mr b.r. exit will probably next claim that they come over here, working for lower wages and taking the jobs of British staff!

This is why the country is in the shit it is in, too many do gooders who want an open door immigration policey, we've no homes for our own people, the NHS has become the international health service and is on it's knees (we have two million unemployed in this country, we don't need anymore cheep labour for the rich, let's start training the two million and give them jobs and hope for the future) and we now have people trying to stop the authorities from deporting people who have over stayed there right to stay. I'm sick of hearing these sob stories from these illegal immigrants, how many times have we heard " there fleeing persecution or some other none story, then we hear once they get asylum and a British passport they start visiting family and friends in the same country they fled from. Time for Britain to get a back bone, pull up the draw bridge and start deporting. |
