Antonia, a 21 year old performing art student from Eccles is still really excited about winning the High Street Star competition which she only entered for a laugh after being encouraged by her mum.
Around 800 people of all ages, male and female, from all over Greater Manchester entered the competition, which was launched to find someone who was wasn't a model to promote autumn fashions available at shops in Manchester's Arndale. The idea was for the winner to be representative of shoppers in the Manc mall, and after the entrants were whittled down to a dozen finalists, Antonia came out joint winner with 54 year old Anne Foy from Manchester.
The winners were announced after starring in a fashion show at the Birdcage Club, strutting the catwalk alongside Corrie's Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) and Hollyoaks' Andy Moss (Rhys Ashworth).
"It was dead, dead scary because it was choreographed and it was a proper show" Antonia recalls "I was just thinking `What have I got myself into here?'"
But now that Antonia's won, she's got herself right in it with a photo shoot by celebrity snapper, Rachel Joseph, a modelling spread in the Arndale magazine and her image being splashed on a giant billboard in Manchester city centre.
"There was so much talent that we couldn't go with just the one winner" says Karl Clawley, Retail Business Manager at Manchester Arndale "We were looking for the real stars of Manchester to do their city proud and Anne and Antonia are great examples of that."
Not bad for a girl from Salford!
