After the announcement last week that the Salford Star will be back in print in September (see previous article – click here), today the Salford Star Lottery is launched to try and get more funds to print more copies and produce more issues.
The Salford Star lottery is a unique take on traditional football card lotteries, with fifty Salford stars and legends' names replacing the names of teams. You simply pay £1, choose your favourite Salford star and put your phone number or email address by it. After all the names are filled in there's a draw and if your star is pulled out of the hat you win half the proceeds - £25 - with the other half going towards the Salford Star.
It's a fun way to help the country's most `community' community magazine and a chance to win a few bob in the process. The names selected range from Albert Finney, John Cooper Clarke, Robert Powell, Ben Kingsley, LS Lowry, Ryan Giggs et al, to Salford City FC legends Rhodri Giggs, Barry Massay and current manager Phil Power; to politicos Mary Burns, Fred Engels and Emmaline Pankhurst…
…There's also big Salford names from stage, screen and the written word…from Elkie Brooks to Allan Clarke and Graham Nash, from Michelle Keegan to Cath Tyldesley, Alan Halsall, Nigel Pivaro and Maxine Peake; from Stephen Lord to John Thompson, Rebecca Atkinson, Walter Greenwood and Shelagh Delaney…plus sports stars Adrian Morley, Paul Scholes and Eddie Colman
The Salford Star Lottery is currently available to play at the Deli Lama café bar on the corner of Bexley Square, with more venues and collectors to be added.
