BARTON MOSS POLITICAL PRISONER FREED AND ANOTHER PROTECTOR CLEARED

KATE MCCANN FREED ON BAIL AS ANOTHER SALFORD ANTI FRACKING PROTECTOR CLEARED BY COURT
Kate McCann, dubbed `fracking's first political prisoner', was freed from jail this afternoon as a judge lifted an oppressive six months remand in Birmingham Prison and replaced it with standard bail conditions.
In a dramatic day at Manchester Magistrates Court another protector, Mark Dent, was cleared of `threatening to kill' a lorry driver and other public order offences as Crown prosecution cases are going down like ninepins.

This afternoon, Kate McCann - `fracking's first political prisoner' - was freed from six month's remand at Birmingham Prison and released on bail after an application at Manchester Crown Court (for further details see previous Salford Star article - click here).
Immediately after Kate was freed he was put on trial at Manchester Magistrates Court for activities at Salford's Barton Moss anti-fracking protests. The trial continues tomorrow, and tonight his partner, Tammy, posted a message to all their supporters…
"I just want to thank you for all your love and support for myself and Kate and each other…I'm very proud of you all. I've seen people find friends, become part of this community albeit online only for some, seen many of you do lovely kind things for people you have never met, seen people stranded assisted to get home, I've seen messages communicated to where they need to get to,
"I've seen people receive physical, emotional, financial and spiritual assistance. I've seen you all growing and bloom and educating yourselves and others. Did I ever tell you how wonderfully beautifully awesome and inspiring you all are? Love u all…"
Meanwhile, in another court at Manchester Magistrates, Mark Dent, was cleared of public order offences and `threatening to kill' a lorry driver delivering to the IGas exploratory drilling site at Barton Moss. The judge ruled that there were `wide inconsistencies' in the key witness's statements and thus the prosecution failed to prove its case.
Today has been the second day running that charges relating to Greater Manchester Police arrests on Barton Moss have been thrown out of court (see previous Salford Star article - click here).
"We are extremely happy with the result of this and other cases arising out of the anti fracking protests" says Simon Pook of Robert Lizar Solicitors "It is the right outcome and a victory for the right to peaceful protest and freedom of speech."
There are over two hundred more Barton Moss cases still to come to court…

| missnoneofyourbusiness as a keen unbiased observer, watching the actual videos every day of what was going on at Barton Moss and watching the news and reading all the papers I have come to the conclusion that the only UNBIASED TRUTHFUL reporting was from the Saltford Star, and if you researched your subject properly you would cme to the same conclusion. As for the children, we teach our children to cross busy roads with adult supervision, so what is the difference in teaching them to slow walk in front of lorries with adult supervision? As for the super gluing, did anyone see children superglued? No because they weren't. What these children have been taught is to think independently, to do what they believe is right, and if something is important enough to act. They have been taught morals and honesty, that to me is the most important things you can teach a child. |

| Again why was Kate McCann/McCann Ickle/Adam a political prisoner? Using the fake name 'Kate McCann' is such a great way when it's publicly known it's the mother who lost her child Madeleine Is it a great example to teach kids to slow walk in front of lorries when we teach them never to do things like that or to teach kids that superglue is fine as long as you superglue yourself to objects and other people in the name of a protest? You all go on bout saving our kids lives when in actual facts your teaching them that right from wrong is wrong. God help future generations when you think doing stupid things and breaking the law is acceptable. |

| Well after seeing what happened on the Moss and what was reported in the MEN, the BBC/Granada news I think they are all one sided showing only what it thinks people should see, (propaganda brain washing media)...portraying only the bits which make the protectors look bad. The Salfordstar reports on the factual points and no made up BS.
I have never seen or heard a bad word said to any locals, but they have suffered abuse from locals driving down the road.

| Thanks for your unbiased reporting from the outset of this campaign to stop this atrocity known as Fracking. We are so delighted to have Kate back with the tribe again. Kate is Kate a lovely human being who cares passionately about Mother earth and to have been incarcerated as a political prisoner was to say the least upsetting. We have been well and truly vindicated this week in court on these trumped up ridiculous charges. we have never been afraid as we know what we are doing is right. I for one am determined not to let these people Frack my granddaughters future we need clean air and clean water to survive.Thanks again for all the local support we have had some truly wonderful people. |

| That has to be some of the worst, most biased reporting I have ever seen.
Not interested in getting into an argument with anyone on here, but let me just say, as a resident of Irlam, the protesters did NOT represent me. I am also not for fracking, or coal bed methane extraction (which are both different things)
all I have ever asked for is for someone to show me some unbiased information, when i asked this question at the protest site, I was spat at and threatened. So as far as i am concerned they should all be locked up... forever. scum |

| In my youth altar boys from all over the diocese used to gather in Salford Cathedral something to do with the Whit walks I think and this memory prompts me to suggest that it is about time that the Churches stepped forward and made their position clear about protecting the planet and resisting the Frackers.
In Essex the Churches joined the UN,Council of Europe and Amnesty International in opposing the forced evictions at Dale Farm.Several Rabbis joined in as well.The local MEP had voted many times in Strasbourg against forced evictions and said he was ashamed to see this being done to Irish Travellers by extreme right wing politicians. |

Again political prisoner I haven't seen any threats against the government no murders etc... Everyone is entitled to an opinion and as always some of you only chose to read what you want to believe is true. Please explain to me why supergluing yourself to objects or other people is acceptable or a role model for children when at school are advised not to do things like superglue yourself to objects or people. | Political prisoner really? Please explain to everyone why Kate McCann which I doubt is his real name and with a rumour going round he's called Adam. How can you be a political prisoner for slow walking trucks and all other vehicles, causing trouble for locals, threatening locals and least of all supergluing yourself to objects and other people? This paper is one sided and biased, it never shows both sides of any story...which as a news paper and journalists just makes more people of Salford stand against some protesters and this newspaper/soo called journalism. |
