Miss Teen Great Britain was set up to find `a great role model for teenagers' and isn't a mere beauty contest. Contestants had to do all sorts of things, like raise money for charity, devise their own PR campaigns and demonstrate their ace personality.
Lurelle Bancroft, a pupil at Buile Hill Visual Arts College, certainly wowed the judges of the contest, firstly getting through to the semi finals, where she was crowned Miss Teen Salford, and then making it through to the Grand Final a few weeks ago, where she competed against 65 girls from across the country for the ultimate title of Miss Teen Great Britain. Lurelle did brilliantly, coming in the top 25 and winning a place in the forthcoming Miss Teen Galaxy England.
"I was really proud to represent Salford and I think I did amazingly well in the competition considering this was my first time ever doing a pageant" she says.
There were three rounds in the final, casual, fashion and evening wear, followed by the judges asking questions…
"I was asked things like 'Tell me about yourself'…'When was the last time you watched a film?'…and 'If you were to win Miss Teen Great Britain 2012, what would you do with your title?' And then it was time for the results" Lurelle recalls "Unfortunately I didn't win but I came in the top 25. I feel I've done Salford very proud as well as my family and friends."
"I am still going to continue making as many appearances as I can with my Miss Teen Salford 2012 title as I have this for a year" she adds "I'm really looking forward to what comes to me in the next year and the years to come."
Lurelle will be competing in Miss Teen Galaxy England in March and we'll keep following her progress.
