Something's happening down in Irlam, as Salford MCs, DJs and artists go again with the ace Dub57 night at the White Horse Inn.
Following the success of the first Dub57 in August (see here) it's now going to be a regular monthly night, with an open mic, visuals from Salford graffiti artists and top DJ and live re-mixer, Markus De Rawkus. Completely the bill are equally ace MC Screwmaster G and controversial `agit punk rappers' Class Actions.
"We will again be performing Rip Up The Sun and we encourage people to bring their own copies of the Sun to literally rip up during the performance" says Class Actions frontman Aslan AK "It's of course preferable if you don't buy it if possible, local chippies often let us have them for free if we ask nicely. We are certainly proud of the militant edge to our performances, we take no prisoners!
"Markus will be on the decks re-mixing live throughout the night, to a backdrop of the latest Salford Graffiti" he adds "His DJ sets present the listener with a musical history lesson from the early '80s to the present day, they contain some proper underground treasures from Cybotron's Techno City to his own recent release Be Yourself. Old Skool Hip Hop always had a real party feel good spirit to its live performances and Screwmaster G is proof this spirit is alive and well."
Speaking generally about the night, Mike F, Class Actions' producer, explains that it's about developing Salford artists and having a good time…
"DUB 57 is unique in the area, a place where people can see local artists perform hip-hop, electro, drum and bass and dubstep" he explains "Markus is a top bloke who loves the area and the music scene and always makes sure it's a good night for both performers and the audience."
So don't forget your copy of The Sun – and you can bring your own vinyl to spin too.
