Markus DeRawkus is becoming a bit of a Salford music legend, helping local rappers get a spotlight and documenting graffiti artists work. He's putting the two together for a new monthly DUB 57 night at the White Horse Inn which begins this Thursday and promises some sick sparks.

On the mics will be Screwmaster G, one of the stars of last year's Salford Music Festival (see here), Class Actions, who eat Tories, royalty and Murdoch for breakfast (see here and see here) and Redvenom, who has worked with the Prodigy and Freestylers. There will also be an open mic for any MC who fancies their chances.

Meanwhile on the decks, Markus himself and DJ Meza will be spinning a range of `dub-hop' - old skool hip hop, dubstep, electro and drum n bass. And it will all happen to projected backdrops of that fab art from Ordsall's Graffiti Palace (see here).

"The DUB 57 collective is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and producer Markus De Rawkus" says Class Actions' Aslan AK "By putting on hip hop and electro nights, DUB 57 aims to create a positive vibe, push the boundaries of live interactive performance and help Salford and Greater Manchester artists gain the exposure they deserve. DUB57 not only gives a platform to MCs and DJs but also graffiti artists which a whole new dimension to the night.

"There will be some top MCs and DJs performing, and we'll be performing our single Rip Up the Sun with an interesting live twist" he adds "There's also an open mic for all MCs, and we encourage anyone to come down who wants some live exposure or just an outright decent night. It's a free event in the true spirit of conscious hip hop and not to be missed."

DOGS FIRST AID COURSE AFTER HUMAN GROUPS CUT
