Statement from City West Housing 4:30pm
"We have been advised that the cordon at Silver Street will begin to be lifted tomorrow – Thursday 4 November 2010 at 8.30am.
For those people who are able to go back to their homes, there will be a phased return and they will be contacted by telephone this evening or visited at their hotel to be advised of the status of their home. If there are any customers who have not yet informed us of their whereabouts we would encourage them to call our emergency number on 0300 123 5522.
All City West Housing Trust homes made available will have a safety and security check before the property is handed back.
Those people able to return to their homes will need to be present for the safety and security checks. They will be informed of a time when these checks are being completed. A member of City West Housing Trust staff will accompany customers during these checks.
We appreciate people will want to return as soon as possible but for everybody's safety and security they will need to adhere to the timeslots given
We will continue to support those people who are advised that they are unable to return their homes. Further details will be provided to them on a case-by-case basis and alternative accommodation will be arranged."
