Salford has eleven new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the cumulative total to 1,435 in the city, up from the previous day's 1,424.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, Manchester has a total of 3,206 cases (up from 3,174), followed by Wigan with 2,172 (same), Oldham 2,073 (up from 2,056), Bolton 1,966 (up from 1,956), Rochdale 1,847 (up from 1,836), Stockport 1,716 (up from 1,711), Tameside 1,591 (up from 1,586), Trafford 1,401 (up from 1,383) and Bury 1,334 (up from 1,329).
There were no new virus-related deaths at Salford Royal Hospital.
Meanwhile Vue Cinema on Salford Quays, or Vue Manchester Lowry as it titles itself, is to re-open on Friday 7th August, with COVID-secure safety measures in place, including more online booking with tickets accessed on smartphones, disinfecting every screen between each screening and hand sanitiser stations placed throughout the cinema, plus social distancing in place with staggered film times. All customers will also be required to take part in the Test and Trace initiative.
