SALFORD HAS THREE NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES AS 336 PEOPLE WITH DISEASE DISCHARGED FROM SALFORD ROYAL HOSPITAL

After four consecutive days of no new confirmed coronavirus cases in Salford, there have been three new ones, taking the total to 980, as Salford Royal Hospital states that it has treated and discharged 336 patients who had the virus.

Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, has extended free bus travel for young people who, he says are "at risk of being a lost generation if we don't put in place the support they need now..."

After four consecutive days of Salford having no new confirmed coronavirus cases, there have been three new ones taking the total to 980.

Confirmed virus cases in Manchester now total 1,737 (up from 1,728), followed by Wigan with 1,231 (down from 1,234), Oldham 1,156 (same), Stockport 1,090 (same), Bolton 1,059 (up from 1,058), Trafford 885 (up from 884), Rochdale 884 (up from 883), Tameside 874 (up from 870) and Bury 817 (same).

There were no new virus-related deaths at Salford Royal Hospital but it has announced "Well done to all our staff who continue to work so incredibly hard to keep our patients safe and well during #Covid19. Your efforts have helped us to successfully treat and discharge 336 patients from Salford Royal who were diagnosed with Covid-19. #SafeSecureHereforyou..."

The figures for Salford Royal Hospital now show 177 deaths in total, and 336 recovered.

Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, has extended free bus travel for young people who, he says are "at risk of being a lost generation if we don't put in place the support they need now..."

The Our Pass scheme, which gives free bus travel and half-price off peak one day and weekend travelcards on Metrolink for young people, opens for new applications on Wednesday 1st July.

The scheme has been extended to care leavers aged 18 to 21 who will have the same benefits as Our Pass holders, while Our Pass holders who are 18 are to be given an extra year's access to "free opportunities, rewarding those impacted by lockdown who would otherwise be losing their entitlement"...
