Salford has a further three new confirmed cases of coronavirus, bringing the total to 938, as no pattern is emerging, only a kind of rollercoaster, with some days just a very few new cases, followed by up to half a dozen. Over the next few weeks, however, data should show the consequences of the lockdown easing and school return, for good or bad.
The picture seems to be the same elsewhere in Greater Manchester. The number of cases in Manchester now total 1,597 (up from 1,587), followed by Wigan with 1,210 (up from 1,208), Stockport 1,055 (up from 1,054), Oldham 1,091 (up from 1,084), Bolton 1,025 (up from 1,024), Trafford 830 (up from 829), Rochdale 810 (up from 801), Bury 771 (up from 764) and Tameside 745 (up from 740).
Meanwhile, for the first time in five days, Salford Royal Hospital has announced tow further sad virus-related deaths, bringing its grim total to 166. These figures are accurate until yesterday.
The latest released Office for National Statistics figures, up until 22nd May but registered up to 30th May, show total virus-related deaths in all Salford settings hospital, care homes, hospice and home as 296 (see previous Salford Star article for full breakdown click here).
