For the first time since the coronavirus hit Salford back in early March, no new cases have been reported, with the tally remaining at 891 cases for the second day in a row. This is incredible when it's considered that there is now more widespread testing in the city.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, the numbers also seem to be levelling off, with Manchester now totalling 1,428 cases, followed by Wigan with 1,118, Stockport with 1,013, Oldham 1,004, Bolton 954, Trafford 746, Rochdale 720, Bury 669 and Tameside 627.
Meanwhile, no new deaths have been reported at Salford Royal Hospital.
To help provide better support for the delivery of key services during the current crisis, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, which supports people living in former mining communities, has opened a new Coalfields COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience Fund in Salford.
The trust is offering grants of up to £10,000 and Andy Lock, Head of Operations (England) for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, explains that "our focus will remain on employment, skills and health and wellbeing. However, priority will be given to applicants that are delivering support, or who are having to significantly adapt their services, to respond to the pandemic and still assist vulnerable groups.
"Our community-based organisations are in crisis" he adds "Despite the fact that demand for their services and support is at an all-time high, many have had to close temporarily, furlough team members or significantly reduce their services to protect reserves and cash flow so that they can survive longer-term.
"In other instances, diversifying to deliver services in different ways is the only option" he explains "This requires much-needed skills, support and additional funding. This is why our new Fund and practical support is more important than ever before."
The deadline for applications for eligible groups is this Friday 22nd May for the mid-June panel.
For the late July panel, the The Eligibility Survey closes at 5pm on 29th May, with application deadline 12th June.
