HOOKY SHOWS JOY DIVISION ANNIVERSARY GIG FOR EPILEPSY SOCIETY

Salford has recorded just four new confirmed coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 891, with no new deaths reported at Salford Royal Hospital.

Meanwhile, today, for 24 hours only, Hooky is broadcasting footage of the 2015 iconic Macclesfield concert to celebrate forty years of Joy Division and ten years of Peter Hook and The Light, and to raise money for the Epilepsy Society.

For the second day in a row, Salford has recorded just four new confirmed cases of coronavirus, taking the total to 891, up from 887. There were also no new deaths reported at Salford Royal Hospital, although the NHS states that "The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate for a period of time on Saturday 16 May".

Meanwhile, today, Salford legend, Hooky, is broadcasting the unseen 2015 Christ Church, Macclesfield concert by Peter Hook and The Light, in which he played all 44 Joy Division songs to an audience of just five hundred in a gig that sold out in twenty seconds.

The three hour concert marked the 35th birthday of Ian Curtis, and this weekend Hooky should have been playing live gigs titled Joy Division 40: A Celebration, which obviously had to be cancelled.

Instead, this broadcast will mark the anniversary as well as ten years of Peter Hook and The Light, and will be shown from noon today for 24 hours only on the Joy Division YouTube and Facebook channels, and The Light's You Tube and Facebook channels.* The screenings will be free but viewers are asked to make donations to the Epilepsy Society – click here for details.

The concert movie, So This Is Permanent, also features Rowetta and Howard Marks, who introduces the broadcast as he did the original show in 2015.

"The idea of coming back to Macclesfield, Ian's home town and to the church Ian attended as a child as well as in his youth was wonderful" recalls Hooky "I wanted to do something different, something unique. I love playing our songs and what better opportunity could there be than to play every song Joy Division song ever wrote and recorded. They thought I was mad. I thought I was mad but we pulled it off. We played every song in one go. It was so emotional. I was so proud. I did it for Ian."
