New cases of coronavirus in Salford are definitely now on the wane, with over one week's worth of case rises of ten or under, compared to dozens in previous weeks.
The latest statistics see a rise of just four confirmed cases, bringing the tally to 887, up from the previous day's 883.
However, Salford still has an infection rate of 348.7 per 100,000 people, which is above the England average of 254.6, and is the second highest rate in Greater Manchester after Oldham (421) - but nowhere near places like Barrow (823.7) and Lancaster (540.7).
Bury, which has a relatively low number of cases, has a high infection rate for the region with 347.2, coming next after Salford. Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, Stockport has an infection rate of 344.1, followed by Wigan which has a rate of 333.7, Bolton 327.6, Rochdale 317.7, Trafford 309.3, Tameside 269.5...and Manchester, which has the highest number of cases in the region but the lowest infection rate at 256.4.
Nationally, Torridge has the lowest rate of infection with just 51.4 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Hastings with 51.7.
In terms of numbers, Manchester still has the most confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester, with 1,404 (up from 1,395), followed by Stockport 1,004 (up from 988), Wigan 1,088 (up from 1,080), Oldham 992 (up from 985), Bolton 935 (up from 929), Trafford 731 (up from 726), Rochdale 699 (up from 688), Bury 660 (up from 655) and Tameside 607 (up from 590).
Meanwhile, Salford Royal Hospital has announced two more sad virus-related deaths.
