SALFORD CORONAVIRUS DEATHS BY AREA AS BROUGHTON AND WORSLEY HAVE HIGHEST NUMBERS

Star date: 2nd May 2020 BROUGHTON PARK, WORSLEY, LITTLE HULTON NORTH AND HIGHER BROUGHTON HAVE HIGHEST COVID DEATH RATES New localised figures produced by the Office for National Statistics show that, in Salford, Broughton Park has the highest number of sad COVID-19 deaths with 15, followed by Worsley with 14, Little Hulton North and Higher Broughton with 13. Meanwhile the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Salford has risen by 17, to 612, with one new sad death announced by Salford Royal Hospital. Full details here...

Yesterday, the Office for National Statistics, or ONS, released an interactive map showing the number of COVID-19 related deaths by Middle Layer Super Output Areas which takes the analysis right down to various areas in Salford between 1st March and 17th April. The areas with the highest number of sad deaths in the city are Broughton Park with 15, followed by Worsley with 14, Little Hulton North and Higher Broughton with 13, and Lower Irlam and Cadishead and Walkden North West with 10. Meanwhile, Salford had a further 17 confirmed cases of coronavirus bringing the total to 612 from the previous day's 595, while Salford Royal Hospital announced one further fatality.

| The northwest is now the worst area at the moment for this deadly killer "big flu bug" from china. People are still going out for silly things. This last few days I've watched a bit of news and been on several news websites including the SALFORD STAR. A famous burger chain opened its drive thru down south and people was queuing for hours.Madness. A famous coffee chain has opened its drive thru and people queued for about a hour.Madness. Greater mcr rubbish tips opened the other day and people was there one hour(7am) before it opened and there was queues all day.Madness. A mate of mine went to the BIG DIY place(mentioning no shop name) and he spent over a hour in the queue waiting to go in for 3tins of paint and rollers.Madness. People are still having house parties and inviting Tom dick and harry to join them.. Madness. |

| Gloves are a waste of time, dont touch your face and wash your hands regularly. For those wearing face masks, why? They dont stop you getting infected, they harbour germs, and can make you sick. They help to stop anything spreading if you cough, but then you shouldnt be outside if you have a cough! |

| This is not the Flu..... Covid deaths are horrible,,, drowning in your own phlegm, leading to cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure.... and yet people can't wait for KFC to re-open, or to queue up at B&Q and buy new garden furniture. It's so depressing to see so many people with their "I'm all right jack" attitude. Stay home,,stay safe. |

| STAY AT HOME. PROTECT OUR GREAT NHS. Some people are still not. Some people are still making unnecessary journeys, people still meeting for games of football in our parks, still people on salford precinct chatting with other people not from there household and not keeping distance, and people are still having house parties with other households. This "big flu bug" is deadly and will be here till early next year.. What I've noticed this week is people still touching cash machines buttons with no gloves on, people using petrol pumps handles to fill up there cars with no gloves on, people still touching self service checkouts with no gloves on, people still touching public door handles with no gloves on. Hands have germs, some people don't wash there hands, BE SAFE citizens. |

| Thank you Salford Star for keeping us informed. This rings the message loud and clear to stay home. I admit being worried for my friends and neighbours. I praise the NHS and Salford Council workers for their caring approach. Refreshing to see everyone in Salford pulling together to beat this nasty virus. I actually think a light is at the end of the tunnel but that social distancing will be a new norm post lock down. For people in my age group (70 plus) it is clear just how much adult social care needs protecting. |
