Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Salford have now risen above five hundred, with 16 new cases bringing the total to 503. Manchester still has the highest number of cases in Greater Manchester with 929, followed by Stockport on 699, Bolton 623, Oldham 509, Wigan 505, Trafford 504, Tameside 394, Bury 369 and Rochdale 358. Sadly, two more deaths have been announced by Salford Royal Hospital. Meanwhile, student nurses from the University of Salford have been telling of life on the virus front line... Kerry Cain, a second-year student nurse and mother to four children, is working over forty hours a week in A&E..."I wouldn't have it any other way" she says "I thrive off being busy and get great satisfaction helping patients on placement and at work. I think keeping busy is my coping mechanism." When the pandemic started, Kerry spent a shift 'holding a gent's hand as he passed away'..."He would have been alone because his family couldn't be with him due to safety reasons" she explains "I have seen adults sobbing because they can't sit with loved ones, the elderly scared because they just don't understand why we are staring at them with gowns and masks on and confused as to why no family have visited them. "I am proud to be the one that has comforted and soothed someone in their final hours and minutes and I know I do it well and with respect, the way I would want someone to do it for me or my loved ones" she adds "This pandemic hasn't changed any of that for me." Nathan Harrison, a second-year student nurse, has been working across A&E departments in Greater Manchester, ensuring that suspected COVID-19 patients 'get screening, where appropriate, and the care they need to get better...' He believes that PPE and taking precautions are vital in limiting the likelihood of catching COVID-19 himself... "People have been asking me if I'm worried about getting the coronavirus since I'm exposed to people with the virus on a regular basis" he says "I live on my own, so I don't have to worry about spreading it to anybody at home. During this time, I have had to focus on keeping myself well." Nathan is taking part in a paid extended clinical placement to support the front line, and has requested to work at the NHS Nightingale North West Hospital in Manchester, where he would be working directly with coronavirus patients.

| Whatever you think you illiterate weak left wing cuck, think that should your new name cuck. That's the Mrs Thatcher who broke the corrupt unions and prevented the country from years of ineffectual leadership at the hands of left wing lunatics. Right cucky boy got to go, enjoy your night watching Citizen Smith and gently touching yourself while looking at pictures of Diane Abbott, |

| Mrs Thatcher (you remember her the greatest post war Prime Minister by a mile) gave a huge amount of people the chance to own the properties they lived, for the majority this would have been the only way they could get onto the property ladder. As such it can only be viewed as the right thing to do. |

@wrote Salford council don’t have any housing stock, because they sold it all to Salix, city west. The reduction of housing stock is not because people like bob bought their council houses, it’s because we have 650.000 people coming into the country every year, most economic migrants with their hands held out, people who take out more, than they put in. | Even when you're trying to react you can't spell, use capital letters or correct grammar, did you not go to school? To address the topic I have said for ages that whatever you pay health care professionals it needs to be more, the same with our emergency services and armed forces, fools like Dennett & Burnham are nothing but chancers who are stealing money from coffers that could be used to increase the pay of these people. |

| This bursory thing student nurses used to get. It was stopped in 2016 by the tories and at the lowest was about a grand for well off students up to about 4 grand for poor ones, for those living at home. Mr Hand Cock, our health minister says he will give them all 5 grand each next year. They already get a bursory grant in Scotland. Gnasher Sturgeon says she is going to up this to ten grand next year. In every other job, trainees get paid wages they can live on.Nursing trainees should get this as well. Our NHS is penny wise and pound foolish. If it encouraged more nursing training, it would not have to do things like pay out for agency nurses that it has to pay for to meet its legal staff coverage obligations. |

| well either I am "Well said and correct," "spot on" "barmy" or a "disgusting arsehole". Well if anyone are disgusting arseholes, its our council. While our hospital staff go to work in our hospitals, self isolating themselves in the privacy of their own cars, when they get there ,they have to pay Dennetts mob huge amounts to park their mobile self isolation units in his car park. Dennett justifies this by saying it encourages them to use public transport. Only barmy people would want to increase the chances of encouraging people who are more likely to be infected to travel on public transport. These people who work in our hospitals we are grateful for. The least we can offer at this time is free parking. Come on dirty Den, do the decent thing. |

| Like I have said before - my missus works for the NHS .. she is a senior practioner in an intermediate (at home or in care homes) care team dealing with Covid cases on a daily basis. She has no complaints whatsoever about her NHS pay and pension. She has no complaints about PPE, she has no complaints about anything other than crappy internal management systems within the NHS. Such a pity that so many people are politicising the NHS . And Bob The Regular is spot on about Junior nurses etc who used to receive a training bursary whilst they did 37.5 hour working weeks on wards - and now they are expected to work for free. Building site apprecntices get paid .... so should trainee nhs staff |

| Well said Bob (despite the erudite pithy repost from wrote afterwards) you are correct, but you'll find that pretty much anyone who is earning a trade gets poorly paid it is just a fact of life and pretty much always has been. There's way to much attempted political points scoring at the moment, the loony left disgracefully using a world wide disaster to try and further the cause of socialism shows them to be exactly what they are, corrupt and flawed ideology. |

| Re nurses wages. If you look at what I said, all I was doing was comparing wages of nurses to that of sparks and gas fitters.Nurses and all these jobs require intelligent and responsible people to do them who have the publics safety in mind.Look at the wages offered for staff nurses and sparks. about the same.In our country, we are just as short of sparks as we are of nurses, (brickies also), but nobody says they are underpaid. We are short of nurses because we do not have enough student ones. Student nurses get treated like crap financially. Just ask the girl in the picture. Now I am getting old, I am all for spending more cash on the health service if it makes it better. An extra quid a gallon on petrol,a quid on fags, and 25p on beer should do the trick.(I only spend a tenner a week on juice, I can afford to spend twelve, gave up the other sins years ago) Oh, another thing as well. All foreigners who come here should have insurance to cover our NHS treatment they may get whilst here. No insurance, next plane back to where they came from. We hear far to many stories of people coming here to take the piss. (this one always gets the lefties backs up) |

| I believe that we should spend a bit more on our health service, we can afford it and it would bring us on level with what the German and French governments spend. The point I think Bob was trying to make was that student nurses get badly treated as far as money goes. They do, I have a pal and his daughter was a student nurse years ago.All she got was a bursory I think. In the late eighties, an old school pal of mine got a job as a hospital porter at North Manchester.Regular job but not the best of pay. About 5 years ago he got 50 grand off his NHS pension thing and wisely bought his council house with it, so he will never pay rent again. He has not long retired and gets 700 quid a month on top of his old age pension. Good luck to the lad ,he deserves it, he has served the country. The point I am making, is that even those at the bottom of the NHS do not do so bad. |

| NHS. If people want to know what our GREAT NHS people wages are, go on the website *NHS Agenda for change pay structure for 2020/21*. The wages all depends on how many years experience you have. Also after this "big flu bug" has gone hopefully, NHS staff MUST ALL get a DECENT pay rise. |

| eh barmy bob where did you hear the great wages nurses are on from the man from the daily mail all the nurses doctors and nhs workers have been treated like dirt for many years with low pay and long working hours i had a relative who was in hope hospital for treatment the nurse looking after her had a sore foot from all the walking attending patients she was doing 12 hour shifts and doing the work which should have been carried out by 3 other nurses because of tory cuts nurse cant be compared to other jobs a nurses work is mostly vocational they do the work because they care and as a result they are treated as a burden by tories who hate the nhs and all what it stands for . i remember the crap that thatcher used to spout about waste in the nhs and her solution was to demolish hospitals cut staff and privatise and just look at the state of things now we have to turn a train station into an hospital the fools who used to come out with to much waste in the nhs are now probably suffering the consequences the result of falling for tory lies .bob can you tell us how much a bandage costs to save life and then contrast that with a bullet that takes life .its up to you bob and all of us to not forget what the nhs workers have done and are doing to save our lives and not allow the tory wreckers to double cross them because they will certainly do so if we let them . |

| From what I hear, the wages of basic nurses with a couple of years experience compare well with those hourly paid, higher skills construction workers. (J.I.B.sparks, gas fitters, heating engineers ect).
Where the problem is, is the young student nurses, these people are treated as students and get next to nothing. They are treated very badly by our government. We need as many of these young people going into the profession as we can. They should get proper wages and good cheap subsidised accomodation while they are learning. The trouble with our health service is not lack of cash, its just that they waste what they get, and have the wrong priorities. |
