Star date: 14th April 2020 ONE DAY OF THE SALFORD LOCKDOWN It had to be the weirdest Easter Monday of everyone's lifetime as churches and pubs were closed, football matches were cancelled and a trip to the shops was the major excursion of the day. Easter Monday bank holiday in Salford 2020. The sun was out but lockdown was in, as churches were closed, precincts were deserted, pubs were shut and football was postponed. Salford Star photographers, Gareth Lyons and Louise Garman, went out and about in the city (with newsgathering credentials) capturing the sights and lack of sounds in the weirdest Easter break ever during our lifetimes...

| the snipers having ago at the salford star obviously have an agenda pictures of street scenes abound on all newspaper web sites taken obviously by reporters doing their jobs steve kingston is doing his job he is a member of the nuj and an honest reporter and the picture will provide an historical record for future generations keep on keeping on and viva the free press . |

| Darren who made you the Essentials boss? If people are spending more time in their gardens (if they have them), then they may need to get garden furniture.
This plague is no worse than others, I’ve had it, as have some of my family and friends, we did what we would always do, kept our distance from everyone else. It’s common sense.
Do you know that being scared and stressed weakens your immune system and makes you more prone to illness?
Common sense is needed, and if people want to buy garden furniture for the sake of their mental health then why not!
Oh and good to see lots of the thieving payday lender loan sharks are going out of business, preying on the vulnerable no more! |

| See wrote's comment below...So if no media had taken photos of what was happening in China, or Italy you would have been really happy with that would you - because empty streets are 'not a news story'? You might know what's going on here but other people around the world or who are self isolating might want to see it. Journalists are officially 'key workers' during this crisis...'There is a public interest in keeping the population informed of the developing crisis and subsequent recovery/return to normality' states the National Police Chief's Council on the Salford Star's official credentials. |

| Yet again people fail to respond, taking pictures of empty streets during a lock down is not news, we all know it is happening, the Salford Star is irresponsible in taking to the streets to take pictures when people are being encouraged to stay at home. |

| I don't always agree with the Salford Stars slant on things / opinion -- but I certainly do agree with the right to free press,,, freedom of speech.. and I think that Salford Star, Steve Kingston and his team are brilliant... keep up the great journalism.. |

| NEVER needed more independent news than at this present time the tory BBC and the other media supporters have very little credibility the news papers parrot government propaganda and lies they are not to be trusted . keep the real free press rolling read the morning star and support the salford star. AND DO NOT HEED THE BOSSES TALES . and pay your taxes they keep public services going for instance paying refuse workers to empty your bins and avoid even more plagues occurring . |

| This article has a photo of people stood in queue waiting to go into BM BARGAINS. Me and the missus was there a few days ago and I seen lots of people in the garden centre buying lots of non essential stuff for the garden. When we came out we seen lots of people putting table and chairs, flowers, bricks, basically garden stuff into there cars,(non essential stuff). Essential stuff is bog rolls, tinned stuff, etc. Also in the store some people was NOT keeping distance from one another. GET A GRIP people, this "big flu bug" is a real killer. STAY SAFE and only go out when needed. |

| I thank Salford Star journalists for bringing us all the local news. No other media seem to be bothering to help us Socially locked down citizens in bringing us community interest news. As for the name calling if it makes some release their anxiety let them take a poke at me, it is like water of a ducks back to me after the child hood abuse I had to endure I can take it without losing sleep. And as for the many deaths I send my condolences to all their loved ones it must be devastating to not say goodbye. Very sad. Let me add something by mentioning this nasty Virus. It attacks Neural Pathways tasked with running natural air to the lungs. This is why so many need ventilators. Good to see G-Mex geared up ready. I wish everyone good health and ask you check on vulnerable and elderly neighbours daily by having their phone number handy. |
