At this time of year Salford Star reader Tom Nolan would normally be getting ready to fly off to Turkey or somewhere on his retirement summer break. But at the moment he is self isolating on the Islington estate and thinking of bus services being cut back for nurses trying to get to Salford Royal Hospital...
"What to do with the beer money I would have spent, given my hols are likely to be cancelled?" he asks "If anyone knows of a front line nurse desperate for transport to get to Salford Royal Hospital I will buy them a bicycle up to £100...And if there's a lot of interest maybe other people can do the same..."

Meanwhile, Salford Red Devils is offering Blue Light Card holders free entry to all home matches for the remainder of the 2020 season. Blue Light Cards are for those who work in the emergency services – police, NHS, social care, fire service,army etc...

Bongo's Bingo is also thanking NHS and emergency workers with a free show announced today at The Albert Hall in Manchester, on top of its ongoing free to play online shows which have raised thousands of pounds for the NHS in the first two weeks.
