Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Salford have jumped from 191 to 226, up 35 on the previous day, and now the second highest rate in Greater Manchester.
Manchester itself now has 293 confirmed cases of the virus, with Stockport on 225, Trafford 201, Oldham 194, Wigan 156, Rochdale 155, Tameside 145, Bolton 133 and Bury 124.
Salford Royal Hospital has now sadly confirmed a further four deaths from the virus on 4th April bringing its grim total up to 55 deaths.
Meanwhile, adverts have appeared for staff to work at the new Nightingale Hospital North West at G-Mex, or Central Manchester Conference Centre, which is to be a 750 bed hospital providing care "for those who no longer need to be in a critical care environment...It will also link closely to community health and social care services, as well as the hospitals across the North West region."

The advert states that "training will be provided, as well as hotel accommodation (subject to criteria, e.g. to mitigate the need for work travel and to protect vulnerable groups), parking, and meal provision as appropriate. You will also be provided with uniforms and ID..."

Questions have been asked, such as whether staff at the Nightingale, including porters and cleaners, will be working directly for the NHS, and not some private company cashing in on the crisis...and whether the army, retired medical staff and airline staff (for non-medical roles) will be utilised, like in London.
