Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Salford have now leapt to 92, up from 78 previously and still the highest in Greater Manchester. Three more patients have now sadly died at Salford Royal Hospital between 25th and 27th March, while 108 year old Hilda Churchill died of the virus in a Salford care home on Saturday, having survived Spanish flu and more.
After Salford, Manchester has the next highest number of confirmed cases with 91, followed by Oldham with 82, Stockport 79, Trafford 77, Rochdale 65, Tameside 58, Bury 55, Bolton 42 and Wigan 39.
Meanwhile, a Facebook group set up by a nurse called Ashleigh Linsdell and called For The Love Of Scrubs - Our NHS Needs You, now has over 8,500 members and is encouraging people to volunteer to sew 'scrubs' for front line NHS staff, and any wholesalers to donate materials...
"This Facebook group is a platform to enable those who are able to, and would like to contribute towards supplying hospitals local to themselves with scrubs for front line workers" the group states "For this, we have acquired the right to distribute a scrubs pattern...
"Some hospitals in the UK are facing shortfall in scrubs and PPE, this means our nurses are not as safe as they should be" it adds.
