An isolation video made by Year 11 Walkden High School students has gone viral cheering up Salford people as the coronavirus pandemic kicks in. The video shows the young people kicking a toilet roll to each other, to the sound of Football's Coming Home.
"One of my friends came up with the idea and at first they did it with just boys but then they thought everyone should do it so it would be a longer video" says Lillie Hickman, one of the stars of the video.
"It took the whole day because everyone kept kicking it the wrong way and the girls couldn't do it and boys could. In the end we managed it and posted it..."
...And now, everyone's loving it.
"We've had a lot of people asking if it can be shared to groups to make people smile, and a lot have been saying that it shows that there are good young people" says Lillie's mum Joanne Henson "I've seen a lot of people moaning about kids still on the streets and messing about. But this is showing that there are young people following the guidance and staying indoors. It's had about 15,000 views on Facebook.
"It's been awful the way the virus has affected everybody but Lillie has had a lot of support from the teachers; and we're really grateful to them for all the support in relieving anxiety about it all because it's affected them too" she adds "At first Lillie was devastated about not being able to take the exams but now she's putting it into perspective...."
...And these Class of 2020 students are bringing a smile in challenging times...
