Salford University is to suspend face-to-face teaching from Monday 16th March for all students except final year and post graduate attendees...
"In light of the rapidly changing global health situation, we have made the decision to suspend some face-to-face teaching from 16/3/20" the University has stated "Students and staff are asked to check their email as soon as possible for information on how this may affect them."
On social media, students have largely reacted favourably...
"I personally welcome the move to suspend classes, and our government is not doing enough! Which is what many experts believe as well" wrote Lisa "Well done Salford Uni. As a second yr student that has children and vulnerable family members in my immediate family it's a worrying time for us all. I cannot fault the uni for keeping us informed during this worrying time.
"I know all staff will now be working tirelessly to put a contingency plan in place for all students this effects" she added "Think we all need to remember that everyone that works at the uni all have families at home that I am sure they are just as worried about as we are."
Meanwhile, another student wanted the teaching suspension extended...
"I understand that this isn't for postgraduate and last year students" wrote Karishma "We are humans as well and need to be protected the same way. Please reconsider. It is becoming difficult to step outside home without panic."
