13 photos by Salford Star photographer, Gareth Lyons, taken by drone, show an array of aerial scenes of what is rapidly becoming 'old' and 'new' Salford. The shots reveal the run down former depot and glass-empty greenhouse of Buile Hill Park, together with stunning photos of the derelict Grade II listed Buile Hill Mansion – an oasis of calm and green away from the profit-driven development sweeping in from Manchester. Other photos taken above Chimney Pot Park in Langworthy and the old Windsor High area show the built up flats and estates around Salford Precinct punctuated by pockets of green spaces. In a fast disappearing 'old Salford', these shots could become unique in the future with the pace of change in the city. All photos by Gareth Lyons.

| Buile Hill Mansion has a last chance to be saved but it will take courage and vision. The Mayor needs to reclassify the Mansion as The Mayoral Mansion House by invoking the Salford Charter. This enables bidding for money from the Government levelling up investment programme by claiming equal historical City building spending to London. My vision is a peace park, set in a fabulous eco grounds beside a treasure rich renovated Mansion House. Each room fit for a Queen. Time is short this building is otherwise doomed I fear. The Mayoral Mansion House will inspire and give architectural education a set of training rooms, creating income. |

| Yes. Plenty of space for housing in the precinct area, lets not forget that the occupants of such housing would need significant services such as schools for their kids, surgeries, a very much needed expansion of hospital or A & E provision local pubs/clubs.
Our local authority fetish for gentrification in parts of the city holds a reverse side of that coin, ghettoisation, where planning, funding and necessary services and amenities and Salford folk are completely ignored. |

| There is so much land around the Pendleton area to build hundreds of social (council) houses. There is land on the old amersham street area(behind the old mariner pub) and land at Clarendon around the old Edgehill close and Brydon close areas and the old Windsor high school. This land is not green belt so it doesn't matter. |

| Yep, The old Windsor high school land off churchhill way has been left vacant now for 19/20 years. The council could build about 300 social (council) houses on there for all the local Salford people waiting years on the housing list. Also, the old Salford housing office on Churchill way(next to Winston pub) has come down this week. Maybe the council has plans for this area, we will all wait and see. |
