The Save Swinton Park Golf Club campaign has called a public meeting this Monday 17th February 7pm at St Luke's Church Hall. "We have just learnt that the Directors of Swinton Park 2017 have agreed to sell to a subsidiary of Your Housing for £10million" they state in an email "This is an unconditional offer. We are continuing to fight to save the club so please do your best to attend Monday's meeting..." The meeting will also update local residents and campaign supporters on the strategy to fight any future planning applications that may be submitted to develop Swinton Park Golf Club.
"Our legal fight against the current owners is proceeding" states the campaign committee "As part of that process we will shortly take legal action to resurrect Swinton Park Golf Club 1996 Ltd. We are unable to reveal any more details of our legal claim at this time..."

| Thins is Darren is that SPGC isn't green belt, was founded long before green spaces even existed, Salford would be a better place if the club survived but unfortunately there's not enough interest in golf any longer and Swinton will be the club to fall on its sword. |

| What's next for Salford green spaces. Oakwood park, moorside playing fields, duchy road playing fields, Clifton green. No green spaces will be left. Our glorious mayor Paul dennett is in charge of all housing in greater mcr.. We must protect our green spaces at all costs and The Swinton golf club. The PEEL LOT are building about 450houses on hazelhurst farm on the Swinton/Worsley borders. Also the PEEL LOT are fighting for about 6years now to build houses on broadoak in Worsley and so far the council has spent about 450,000 on fighting the PEEL LOT. WE MUST CARRY ON FIGHTING all housing developments on green spaces. That's it. |

| Even my fertile litigation minded brain fails to understand what this lot are up to in trying to re instate the old company and what they are trying to achieve. Sounds a bit like an angry mob have all put a few coppers in a fighting fund to try and get their own back on the new owners who are flogging the site. They will soon back off when the lawyers start asking for a few quid on account,like they always do. I will show my arse on the town hall steps if they get anywhere with this case. |

| This is an absolutely brilliant pragmatic move by the former brickie. He is a true inspiration to the lads in our profession showing how much can be achieved by the simple application of a bit of nouse, something many of us seem to be lacking. Your housing group are not in the business of buying golf clubs, "charitable" housing providers like them provide housing for the poor, or so we are led to believe. They are also accountable for the money they spend, they are not what you call speculative builders. So from this you can deduct that a nod and a wink has been given them from Dennett and his crew about planning permission. For sure this will include some social housing, as well as affordable, rent to buy ,and outright sale. your group have got this at a big discount, but the former bricky and his pals are still making a very good profit for themselves, a bird in the hand being worth 2 in the bush. The only people who will feel angry about this will be the former golf club members, especially the ones that live near the site who might not welcome the social housing bit.After this philanthropic sale at bargain discount price, I wonder if our Mayor will also allow the disposal of the city's interest in the site next door at such a huge discount. Not a XXXXXXX chance. |
