Broughton's Graham Gouldman almost returns to Salford, playing the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on Thursday 2nd April with Heart Full of Songs.
The former 10CC legend has too many accolades for songs including I'm Not In Love, Art For Art's Sake and Dreadlock Holiday, playing with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band on tours of the USA and Europe last year, being inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2014 and anointed an Icon of the Industry in 2015 by Broadcast Music Incorporated.
Six years ago Graham formed Heart Full of Songs, a four piece band playing acoustic versions of his songs and featuring Graham himself, plus Ciaran Jeremiah, Dave Cobby and either Iain Hornal, Nick Kendal or Andy Park, depending on their commitments. He is also just launched his fifth solo album, Modesty Forbids.
When the Salford Star spoke to Graham a few years ago* he told us "Broughton inspired everything, Broughton was in my blood...I'm very proud to come from Salford. I lived and worked there…although we didn't call it 'Salford', it was kind of Broughton Park…Broughton Park sounded a bit posher."
From his former home in New Hall Road to the Hall of Fame, Graham Gouldman has been there and never stopped producing ace tunes. It should be one real evening at the RNCM in April...
