New items are being sought by Eccles Police to be gifted to the local community this Christmas. The Christmas Present Appeal needs new and unwrapped gifts, particularly for the young and old, with suitable items and hampers being given to the elderly in sheltered accommodation, and to children's homes and children in care.
"This is a local appeal and if you donate you will be directly benefiting the vulnerable in our area only" states Eccles Police "Any leftover or unused items will be donated to a suitable cause after the event."
On Tuesday 10th December between 6pm and 9pm* there's also a present wrapping evening at Eccles Police Station, complete with mince pies and drinks, where members of the community can assist officers and PCSOs with wrapping the donated items ready for distribution during the following week.
Items can be dropped off at the Eccles Gateway, 28 Barton Lane M30 0TU (open Monday to Thursday 8am to 10pm; Friday 8am to 7.30pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm)
Items should be new with tags/packaging and unwrapped so the suitability for age etc can be assessed. Hampers for the elderly accepted as long as all items in date.
Tags and wrapping paper also accepted.
*Anyone going to the wrapping evening at Eccles Police Station on 10th December is asked to arrive between 5:45pm and 6pm as entrance can't be granted after this time.
