Worsley and Eccles South MP, Barbara Keeley, has called on people to sign the 'Do not prorogue Parliament' petition* on the UK Government website which now stands at well over one million signatures...

"Please sign and share if you believe that action by @BorisJohnson to suspend Parliament for five weeks is an outrage" the Salford MP wrote on Twitter.

It comes in the wake of the Prime Minister being accused of suspending Parliament to stop MPs having time to properly debate Brexit in the House of Commons and possibly de-railing him forcing through a 'no deal' Brexit. In response, Johnson has said it was "completely untrue", adding that he needed the time to lay out his "exciting agenda".

Last night, however, thousands of people took to the streets in protest at the Prime Minister's stance, and a further #StopTheCoup demonstration has been called for this Saturday 31st August, at noon in Cathedral Gardens near Urbis in Manchester city centre...

"Boris Johnson is trying to shut down our democracy so that he can deliver on his Brexit agenda" state the organisers "We can't just rely on the courts or parliamentary process to save the day. We all have a duty to stand up and be counted. Join us at 12pm at the Cathedral Gardens to defend democracy and fight against Boris Johnson's Brexit agenda."

Stop The Coup: Defend Democracy
Saturday 31st August from noon
Cathedral Gardens, Manchester.

No Ray, I'm not defensive at all, the left have brought about the current ridiculous atmosphere where any little criticism is seen as hate speech, so this means your vile name calling and taunting needs to be challenged. The fact that I pointed this out and the editors of this site wiped your post (along with my complaint) know this problem exists but because you broadly agree with the tilted editorials on here nothing will be done.

Why is it when challenged about their dishonest claims, Brexiteers, such as DJB,come over all defensive? Are they insecure or is it that Brexiteers aren't that bright? It seems to me that Brexit has created the space for "Morons' Lib" - uneducated, saloon bar reactionaries have been granted carte blanche to spout undiluted bollocks. This is clearly the case with DJB.

Odious bore Ray? I think I would rather take that title than a clapped out union official. Barbara is a typical Labour camp follower loves to sprout the party line but cut it off if someone offers a different take. A Bit like you only less of a Pillock.

@rayofsunshine, 1974, you have nothing to worry about, it’s only a trading block your joining?. One of the biggest lies ever told to the British people, which cost us our freedom, democracy and our economy.

See Ray is using hurtful hate speach again. When will he be banned for life? Hurtful name calling of this nature is totally unacceptable and if he isn't the owners of this site and their obvious bias will have reached a tipping point.

Mr.Brexit, although it's obvious to all and sundry that you are sic,"Intellectually Challenged",please try and focus on the following quotations from prominent Brexiteers. "In no way does leaving the E.U involve either leaving the European Single Market or Customs Union". Boris Johnson, June 2016 "We're on target to strike the quickest trade deal ever in history with the E.U." David Davis,June 2017 "It has always been the case that Brexit meant that the people of Britain would have to make economic sacrifices." Mark Franscoise,Brexiteer and wanker,May 2019. From their own mouths,Brexiteers exposed as bare faced liars!

See rayofsunshine is still eating and drinking from the toilet, because everything he spouts is totally shite. What’s this ray operation fear mark 12.6. . Ray nobody listens to your shite anymore because it’s just that “SHITE”. This is what happens when they take the medication off people like you, you spout Shite. Ray please leave the room because there are real adults on here having a grown up conversation and quite frankly ray, it’s above your IQ level. So please stop interrupting the adults. Now where was I, that’s right. Apart from ray being a bell *nd, as usual, I have to agree with all the people on here who put democracy first, we voted, now it’s time for the children to put the dummy back in their gobs and go back to playing with the Lego or dolls. These same idiots have been telling us for the last 40+ years the worlds going to end if we don’t get on that old horse chestnut “ the climate change TRAIN”, just another way of screwing the hard working tax payers out of their money and putting it straight into the pockets of those who are already loaded. If only this bullshit nonsense they come out with was physical, we could use it to grow our crops.

Does Barbara Keeley have any Financial Interest in staying in the EU. She should stand up for what people voted for.

Well said BOB. MP's like Kelly and Rebecca Long-Bailey should feel totally ashamed that they wilfully ignore the wishes of the people who voted for them.

Bob the regular,a No Deal Brexit would lead to a major economic and fiscal crisis! Consider for example the fact that the Farming Lobby has told Boris Johnson that in the event of a No Deal Brexit, farmers expect to receive the same level of subsidy,in excess of £30 Billion a year,as received from the Common Agricultural Policy! Similar aspirations/threats have been voiced by representatives of bankers, the motor and pharmaceutical industry. In or out of the EU,the vested interests are going to keep their snouts in the public through!

I haven't been on here for some time. Fact is I got bored of it. The juvenile bickering between Ray and Bob became tedious for me. Fact is the Salford Star has become boring to me. it's tedious, it really is. Anyway, I hope Boris takes us out of Europe. Europe's no good for us. We need out. That's all I'm going to say ...

Are Babs and Becky too stupid to know that their electorate voted out? Or perhaps they know, that the vast majority of their electorate are stupid people who don't know what they are voting for (a view I hold), and so therefore need to have their referendum votes overturned (a view I do not hold). A no deal would be great. It would mean we do not have to pay 37 billion quid to the lefty parasite europeans. Perhaps then, our Labour party, scots nats and all the rest of them, could put johnson's balls to the fire and make him spend that cash on our health service like he said 3 years ago that he would. By the way ,while we're suspending parliament, does anyone know how to suspend councils? on a permanent basis?

What is an outrage Ms Keeley is people like you who are wilfully ignoring your constituents. If you had any honour you would resign if you don't respect our wishes. I say well done Mr Johnson and the brave people who are standing up to the left wing bullies in Parliament.

Oh the dilemma, how on earth will the great unwashed loony lefties of the North West be able to choose between this nonsense or the climate claptrap on Deansgate? How inconsiderate to not check your hemp leaf diary 1st.

Barbara Keeley is just another MP who is going against the wish of the British people who voted to leave. maybe she is like Long_bailey creeping to Corbyn for a good job if Labour wins the next General Election. She should NOT be urging people to sign any partition.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
