Life Up 'Ere is billed as a 'collaboration of local creatives exploring modern northern life' and within that is all sorts of stuff that makes Salford tick.
On for two nights at Salford Arts Theatre this week, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th, the presentation features nine new short dramatic works from eight writers, inspired by Alan Bennett's Talking Heads, where the actors have conversations with the audience.
All the pieces tell different stories exploring modern northern life, like what it's like growing up here, falling in love here, being a mum, getting old, dealing with mental health issues and moving away but always coming back.

"I wanted to create this project to bring local creative people together to give them a chance to share how they feel about living up here" says project coordinator John O'Neill, who also has two works in the show.
"Having a group of people ageing from 18 to 75, all with different views and stories has made it so interesting" he adds "The project has been a joy and we can't wait to have an audience in to watch the different pieces. They are all so different but all have one thing in common, they're proper northern."
Life Up 'Ere – a must-see mirror for Salfordians, and a definitely de rigueur for southerners making a home by the Irwell.
