Tastes of Honey: The Making of Shelagh Delaney and a Cultural Revolution is the title of a new authorised biography by Selina Todd, that is being launched at Salford Museum and Art Gallery in a now sold out event. However, on Wednesday 18th September, the author will be speaking at the Working Class Movement Library, discussing Delaney's upbringing, life and work.
"Todd's new book is the first official biography of Delaney and the story of how a working-class teenager stormed theatreland, and what happened next" state the organisers.
"Delaney's life and work reveal why women of her generation were provoked to challenge the world they had grown up in" they add "Exploding old certainties about class, sex and taste, Delaney blazed a new path redefining what art could be and inspiring a new generation of writers, musicians and artists."
As well as a discussion with Selina Todd, the event will feature Rob Lees, Artistic Director, MaD Theatre Company, talking about the experience of bringing Delaney's work to life on stage in 2019.
