FAT CAT SALARIES AT GREATER MANCHESTER COMBINED AUTHORITY REVEALED

Star date: 31st July 2019 £220,000 FOR CHIEF EXEC, £162,000 FOR DEPUTY, £110,000 FOR GM MAYOR The latest accounts from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, revealed this week, show some truly staggering salaries, including £110,000 for GM Mayor Andy Burnham, £220,000 for the Chief Executive, a package of £162,000 for the Deputy Chief Exec and £162,000 for the Treasurer. It is hard not to conclude that the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), which has hyper-charged its power and influence since devolution, is manufacturing fat cats. This week, the GMCA posted its annual accounts which reveal that the number of staff earning over £50,000 (excluding pension contributions) almost doubled, from 89 in 2017-18, to 160 in 2018-19. Twelve of them earned over £80,000. Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, had a total remuneration of £110,000 (although he did donate some of it to the homeless), but top of the pile is Chief Executive Eamonn Boylan, who officially trousered £196,000 but the salary rose to £220,000 from November 2018 as the role encompassed Chief Exec duties of Transport for Greater Manchester (for which the GMCA got a contribution of £30,600 from TfGM). Meanwhile, the GMCA Deputy Chief Exec pulled in £162,000 (including pension contributions), as did the Treasurer (excluding pension contributions). The Executive Director for Waste and Resources (no pun intended) trousered £124,000 after being transferred from the former Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, which managed to trash bucket loads of cash thanks to a dodgy £3.8billion PFI deal, described by the Secretary of State as "botched" (see here). The GMCA's Monitoring Officer and Solicitor pocketed £130,000 (including pensions), while the Chief Fire Officer will inflame cuts-plagued firefighters with a package of £107,000 (including pensions and expenses). The Director of the Mayor's Office pulled in £93,000 and Deputy Mayor for Police and Crime, Beverley Hughes, handbagged £77,000. And, last Friday, the GMCA rubber stamped another fat cat salary for its GM Housing Strategy Programme, which includes a GM Delivery Director in the range £80,000 - £90,000. | Old Boris'll end up working for a Chinese bank. Fact is, the political process is so flawed, better if most people disengage from it and show their contempt of it by not voting. I've only voted twice in my life. Once for the BNP, and once for Gordon Brown to thank Labour for all the years i had on the jam roll, which I knew was coming to an end. Fortunately, it didn't come to an end, but got harder with things like bedroom tax and paying council tax, when those bastards got in under Cameron and Clegg. |

| @kenscott your opinion doesn’t matter. Johnson will make millions when he quits as PM next year, after giving away billions of OUR money to his mates, fact check it if you don’t believe it. Fact check it, it’s all out there and available to see how much and to who he has given this money to during the pandemic! |

Should hang his head in shame where is the Justice it can’t
For running our Country £40,000 more than Than the Mayor
Of Manchester I don’t think Mr Burnham deserved £40.000

| Thanks Paul for that bit of info about yet another penny pinching bunch of Labour shitbags.No wonder most OAP's vote tory. What Boris the menace should do, if he wants a few more grey votes, is to charge the elderly 20 quid for an oAP pass, but valid till your six foot under, and valid all over the country. It would save lots of work time for our overworked poor council staff. Thats what we need in our country, a huge gang of militant pensioners who give the government of the day and all councils no end of shit demanding their rights. Pensioners in our country should come first along with the disabled. It won't be long before I get my pension, and I vow to you all I will be worse than Victor Meldrew. |

| I don't condone ridiculously high salaries - eg. the massively obscene amount of money sloshing around in the world of Finance. But I think this article would have been much improved if it provided a basis for comparison. What are other Council members earning around the Country? And how do these salaries stack up against the equivalents in private companies? A quick internet search reveals the average pay for an experienced Bricklayer with an established reputation (UK) is over £40k. Seen in that light, £107k for being Chief Fire officer for the whole of Manchester - with all the responsibility that carries - doesn't then seem too excessive. |

| andy burnham and this decadent bunch have this week decided without any consultation to charge pensioners 10 pound per year for a bus pass pensioners who exist on the most miserly pension resulting in many having to put food on the table or keep warm shame on you burnham taking money off the most vulnerable and the weakest . how much more do you greedy pigs want this mayor nonsense was never wanted i suggest you dissolve yourself and your hangers on and stop making cuts to our services you self loading wretches . |

| I get why Mr Burnham is getting his level of renumeration....but isn't the role of Mayor for Greater Manchester an Executive role ? If So, why are we being made to fork out for a Chief Executive officer ? It smacks of what happened with the City Mayor and his "Chief Officer"....Not exactly "Best Value" is it? |
