Salford Shopping Centre is getting more and more involved with the local community. After a vote by over 800 shoppers recently, local charity, Salford Survivor Project, was chosen as its 'charity of the year'.
The Salford Survivor Project is a volunteer run charity that helps and supports anyone who has been affected by domestic abuse, or abuse within the family.
"We are so ecstatic and overwhelmed to be selected by the people of Salford to be the Centre's charity of the year" says Hannah Gregory, Project Manager at Salford Survivor Project
"Our mission at Salford Survivor project is to empower and support those affected by domestic and family abuse" she explains "We provide a range of services including daily advice sessions, support groups, empowering courses, medical appointments with clients and support them by overcoming challenges and issues that abuse has caused. Thanks to this new partnership will be working as much as we can, to raise as much awareness through numerous charity events and activities across the year."
Salford Shopping Centre Manager Nick Pitt adds: "We are thrilled to be working with Salford Survivor Project. It has quickly become an inspirational organisation to so many in Salford. I'm very confident we will be hugely effective in generating much-needed funds for this very deserving charity."
Meanwhile, the Centre is also supporting local dance group, MacDance, in their bid to raise funds to enable them to go to the European and World Championships in Blackpool.
The group will be doing a series of dance demonstrations in the Centre between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 27th July and collecting donations from shoppers.
