SALFORD EUROPEAN ELECTION RESULTS 2019

Star date: 27th May 2019 BREXIT PARTY WINS IN SALFORD AND NORTH WEST Salford's European Election results saw the Brexit Party come first with 14,867 votes, followed by the Labour Party with 11,376, LibDems with 7,110 and Green Party with 6,689. This broadly follows the results for the whole North West constituency where the Brexit Party got three seats, with the 'soft' Brexit and Remain parties getting the majority - Labour two seats, LibDems two seats and Greens one seat. Salford is just one part of the whole North West constituency in the Euro Elections, and the city broadly followed the patterns elsewhere... In Salford, the Brexit Party came top with 14,867 votes (29.84%), followed by the Labour Party with 11,376 (22.84%), LibDems with 7,110 (14.27%) and Green Party with 6,689 (13.42%). The Conservatives polled just 3,401 votes (6.82%), UKIP 2,286 (4.58%) Tommy Robinson, who targeted Salford, 1,921 (3.85%) and Change UK 1,436 (2.88%). Over the whole North West, the Brexit Party came top with 541,843 votes (31.32%), followed by the Labour Party with 380,193 (21.91%), LibDems with 297,507 (17.15%) and the Green Party with 216,581 (12.4%). The Conservatives polled 131,002 (7.55%), UKIP 62,464 (3.6%), Change UK 47,237 (2.72%) and Tommy Robinson 38,908 (2.24%). | MickTheStick,Labour's Policy is both clear and logical;it accepts that Brexit will happen but it wants to ensure that leaving the European Union doesn't a)lead to long term economic damage to Britain and b) create the conditions for a new Tory,
Thatcherism 2.0,attack on workers and their rights!
For these reasons,Labour advocates continued membership of the Customs Union! Theresa May's humiliation in Brussels brutally exposes how little clout Britain really has! Face it,Mickthestick,we are a third rate nation. |

As said before, Ford transit van went from Portsmouth to turkey on the orders of the EU, fact and we the British tax payer paid for the privilege. The EU is geared just for big multinational businesses that have massive legal departments, these multinational businesses want businesses regulated because they have the money and legal teams to deal with it, this is why I think it’s around 79% of small businesses don’t primary trade with he EU, they trade outside it, this is because of the regulatory mine field they have to navigate and these change to give the multinational businesses the upper hand when it comes to trade. The EU is a closed shop, it serves big businesses not the small ones. It is, anti competitive. On British steel, £30 million would have kept them afloat, Teresa May said a few weeks ago legally she could not help, what she didn’t say was, it was because of the EU, it’s against EU policy to bail out your own countries buissness, which all other EU countries ignore , except we the British. The EU holds us back, time to cut the apron strings. The EU dosn’t save jobs, it costs jobs. |

| Rayofsunshine, You sound almost like a schizophrenic, your grasp on logic seems tenuous at best. I say this because here you are, yet again, flying the Red Flag, sounding almost like Peter Sellers in that 1959 trade union comedy, I'm All Right Jack ... and yet almost simultaneously you are ever ready to defend a council that works hand in hand with big business, i.e, the Property Barons, to the absolute detriment of Salford's citizens and its green spaces. I just don't get you. To me you are unfathomable.
In my opinion, what Salford needs isn't the Brtexit Party, or Labour or the Conservatives ... but a council of Independents, all working together for the common good of the city's citizens, as a kind of collective. |

| RayofSunshine - you go and have a chat with the workers from Longridge, Swindon (Honda), Whirlpool, and now British Steel - yes protection of worker rights is very important - but so is the protection of jobs and livelihoods. By being a net contributor to the European project - the UK is diminished as a country - not only are we giving them our tax/cash - we are also giving them our jobs and industries..... so please tell me how the Labour party is operating in the best interest of British workers by staying in the EU.... We are much better off out than in.... the people voted out not in... yet the labour party ingnores the people and continues to promote and support the political gravy train that is the EU |

| Mickthestick,it's a common Tory tactic to pit one group of workers against another;shift the blame from multinationals to foreign workers!
I'm afraid I cannot share your optimism about workers' rights after Brexit;a high proportion of the current division amongst Brexiteers hinges around the degree to which workers are going to be attacked in the years to come! Brexiteers see the striking of new trade deals as the perfect opportunity/excuse to undermine employment rights and wages! |

| Ray - Why live your life in fear of what might happen? if that was the case then why bother getting up in the morning. Workers rights and environmental standards have been on an upwards trajectory now for many years, and the UK has already agreed with our European trading partners that our country will maintain the standards laid down in European law for both. I look forwards to change and the opportunities that it brings.
Surely an attack on workers rights is taking place just by being members of the EU - a very good example being the transfer of our money via our contribution to the EU.... which is then divvied out amongst poorer EU states - who can then afford to build new industries (eg manufacturing of cars or white goods) funded by the use of our EU contributions..... and under cutting existing industry in the UK causing the closure of UK manufacturing industries and the subsequent loss of jobs....... Surely as a Labour man" you can see this cause and effect on the job security of your average working man in the UK - whats Labour about that ??? nothing - its capitalism in action - the movement of manufacture from high cost locations to a lower cost location..... the benefit is to the capitalist not the labourer..... seems to me as though you can't see further than the end of your nose.... Ask a jaguar landrover employee how they feel about the loss of their employment/livelihoods and the fact that their tax contributions have resulted in new factories being built in Slovakia where minimum wage is less than 500 euros a month ! |

| It astounds me that Ray can try selling an overwhelming failure for Salford Labour as being part of a "mixed bag". Fact is he doesn't even mention Labour's abysmal showing. Truly he is a real believer, in a cause that is doomed to political extinction. He needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Things are changing across the nation. The Tories and Labour are failing. There is hope at last. |

| The Greens never seem to mention the environment any more. They have become a haven for the votes of moderately affluent, often publicly employed, 'liberal' middle class people who like to think of themselves as a bit socialist and progressive but who don't care about and want nothing to do with the working class.
They should merge with the Lib Dems. |

| The Labour councillor also known as “rayofsunshine” sounds a little pissed off. Remember ray, the brexit Party, from a standstill in six weeks. What’s wrong Ray, is it slowly sinking in that socialism is dead. Labour can’t decide which side of the fence to come down on. Both conservatives and Labour are going to get destroyed at the next election, both traitors to this country. | No surprises to see that the Brexit party put up the highest score on the board.... also no surprise to see the traditional parties trying to create headlines that suit their own end means.... The majority of voters have realised that the EU does nothing to improve the lot of the average Briton..... exporting jobs to the East (Eastern Europe or China -- take your pick)... and importing a never ending supply of cheap labour which keeps wages and living standards down for British workers.... the EU is good for banks and business, but terrible for the rest of us..... nothing to do with racism..... all to do with being able to provide a decent standard of living for our families... out out OUT .... 65% of Salfordians voted out.... but our local labour party apparatchick knows better than the people who voted for her and is a leading exponent of in in IN..... am looking forwards to her feeling the full force of local democracy in action at the next general election ...... adieu, adios, auf wiedersehen, arrivederci, ta raa. |

| The results of the election appears to be a mixed bag ; the Brexit Party picking up protest votes,the
wipeout of UKIP and the humiliation of thug,Tommy Robinson!
What happens to the Brexit Party when it reveals its true right wing face in respect to the NHS or tax cuts for the rich or further evidence of Nigel Farage's money grubbing emerges? There is also the possibility that Farage will throw one of his famous hissy fits and throw the Brexit Party into the dustbin! Alternatively,Farage,ever anxious to be inserted into the back passage of the ruling class,might be bought off with a peerage! |
