LARGEST EURO NORTH WEST ELECTION POLL SHOWS BREXIT PARTY IN FRONT OF LABOUR, LIBDEMS AND TORIES

Star date: 19th May 2019

PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE URGED TO VOTE IN EURO ELECTION TO STOP 'ALARMING' RIGHT WING PARTIES

The largest poll of how people will vote in this week's Euro Election shows Nigel Farage's Brexit Party on 32%, ten points ahead of Labour in the North West, which has 22%. The LibDems are forecast to poll 17%, with the Greens and Tories on 9%.

The poll was carried out by YouGov and Datapraxis for the anti-Brexit Best for Britain, and anti-racist HOPE not hate, whose CEO Nick Lowles says: "These results are incredibly alarming. They envision a populist right party storming to victory in these elections...That's why it is so important that progressives get out and vote on Thursday."

Full details here...

With the Euro Election happening this Thursday 23rd May, the latest and largest poll shows Nigel Farage's Brexit Party well out in front...unless, as the poll's commissioners state, 'progressive' voters take part in the ballot.

The poll of 1,093 people in the North West, carried out by YouGov and Datapraxis for the anti-Brexit Best for Britain organisation, and the anti-racist HOPE not hate, shows the Brexit Party out in front in the North West with a 32% vote share, with the Labour Party on 22%, LibDems on 17%, Tories and Greens on 9%, UKIP and Change UK on 3%, and 'Others' on 3%.

This contrasts with the national poll of 9,260 people which shows the Brexit Party on 34%, LibDems on 17%, Labour on 15%, Greens on 11%, Tories on 9%, Change UK on 4%, SNP, UKIP and Others on 3%, and Plaid Cymru on 1%.

"The poll shows the Labour Party do not top the poll anywhere in the country" states the poll's organisers "In four of nine English regions, the party is in third place or lower according to these results, including third place in London and 5th place in the South East. The results show many voters are jumping ship to vote for parties unambiguously backing our continued membership of the EU. The pro-European Lib Dems look on course to top the poll in the London region, with the Brexit party in second and Labour in third."

Best For Britain estimates that in the North West, parties opposed to a hard Brexit could net an additional three seats with only a 5-6% increase in pro-European voter turnout. The election is by regional proportional representation.

"It's fundamentally important that as many people as possible get out and vote, especially those who often get forgotten by politicians - young people, renters and minority voices" says Naomi Smith, CEO of Best for Britain "No matter their frustrations with politics, staying at home on polling day is never the answer. Our poll gives people the evidence on which to make their decision before going to the polling station."

Meanwhile, Nick Lowles, CEO of HOPE not hate, is horrified at what may occur..."These results are incredibly alarming" he says "They envision a populist right party storming to victory in these elections. If that happens, as this poll suggests, it will be a big boost for the forces of division in this country. That's why it is so important that progressives get out and vote on Thursday.

"Remember that the Brexit Party's leadership has been decimated by resignations over racism, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism" he explains "If these results are borne out, it will be a dark day. The most frustrating thing is that it didn't have to be this way. The Government has failed for more than two years to even try and bring the country together.

"To the very last Theresa May is making no effort to forge consensus in the country" he adds "At the same time, Labour's attempt to triangulate their way out of this Brexit crisis has clearly failed. Leave voters don't support Labour's soft Brexit compromise, and Remain voters are livid at being abandoned. Some have warned that a confirmatory referendum could deepen divisions, but this poll makes it clear that continuing to pretend this question has been resolved is what's really pulling the country apart."

Another thing,Joe,don't be under the illusion that The Brexit Party is your ticket back to a council seat! Granted that the party may poll well on Thursday but because of the sectarian nature of Euroscepticism,it is likely to have split/collapsed well before May next year! Yet again,Joe,you mug punter, you are whistling in the wind! Sad and at the same time,so funny!

Joe,the truth hurts doesn't it? Your "darling Nigel" is a two bit chisler;he expects and demands a millionaire lifestyle funded by Aron Banks! How do I answer that one Ray, i nearly forgot the number of MPS mixed up in the expenses scandal even our own mini me, the number of Labour MPS who recently had there credit cards revoked, the list is endless I mean for all I know myself and the readers could be talking to one of them being feared to put your real name to anything. You lack any credibility hiding behind an alias throwing mud, come out, reveal yourself, grow a pair or piss off.

Rossi,is your life so bleak and devoid of meaning, that you are compelled to commit an act of social and personal nihilism? How in all conscience can you publicly call for a vote for Tommy Robinson - an acknowledged islamophobe, thug and fraudster! If Robinson was to be elected as a M.E.P, his elevation would bring disgrace to the whole of the North West ! Your current state of mental and moral turpitude should serve as an abject warning to others of what a prolonged period of idleness can do to a person!

He's been sanctioned several times by the European Parliament for financial irregularities. Channel 4 News reported last week that Farage receives payments from several American Right Wing Think Thanks in exchange for facilitating contacts/contracts in Britain. Farage is using naieve dick shits, like yourself,to boost his bank balance! Farage,"voice of the people" - my arse!

The deal is this. For far too long, mainstream political parties have been paying lip service to the electorate, in most cases treating them with disdain, if not contempt; and people are sick of it. I hope that Tommy Robinson does well. Labour, the Lib Dems, the Conservatives, have got ZERO credibility with the people of this nation, and if Tommy Robbo and Nigel Farage upset the apple cart by taking lots of votes from the status quo, the establishment parties who are three different shades of the same colour, GREY, then all the better. Truly, I feel sick to the pit of my stomach when I think of what the Conservative Party has done to the poorest and most marginalised people in what is the fifth richest country on the Planet Earth, in the last eight years; firstly with the collusion of the cowardly and opportunistic Lib Dems, under the scoundrel Nick Clegg, and then under Cameron and later, the wretched May; with the bought mercenary help of the hardline Ulster Democratic Unionist Party. And almost has bad for me has been the silence during these eight long and hard years of THE LABOUR PARTY ... What a craven bunch of cowards they have shown themselves to be. Especially in Salford, where all the Salford Labour Quislings care about is having property dealers build more and more blocks of high rise apartment buildings on every bit of land that there is. Truly these Pseudo Marxists are a disgrace. All that I can say is "Rock on Tommy!!!" And keep on upsetting the complacent failures who have been taking people for granted for way too long. Oh, and Rayofsunshine, Be Quiet and shut up.

Why doesn't the Brexit Party have a manifesto? Is the Brexit Party just a Tory Ginger Group? When is Farage going to come clean about the kickbacks he receives from Right Wing American Lobbyists? To stuff Farage, all progressives in the North West MUST vote Labour!

I can never understand the labour parties love of the European Union.... the labour party is there to support workers, improve their working conditions and pay... however the EU and freedom of movement have resulted in a never ending supply of cheap labour.... our economy is doing well,, there are loads of jobs and in theory if there was no free movement of labour,,, there would be a skills/labour shortage and employers would have to increase wages to attract workers. as we are now in the EU with limitless supply of labour from the East/South/North/West - there will never be a labour shortage and therefore wages will never increase at a rate above inflation to actually improve our standards of living.... if we were out of the EU then pay and standards of living will improve. I think the EU is a cosy club for businesses and banks, it prevents competition, it protects the interests of the wealthy over the interests of the poor.... its a stitch up.... surely the labour party can see this - but sadly it appears as though they just dont really think it through and blindly oppose anything the Tories do as a matter of principle... rather than common sense..... Don't start on that load of old cobblers about workers rights/environmental protections etc... they would be still there as we would be required to be on a level playing field with the rest of our neighbours in order to access free trade.... 65% of people in Salford voted to leave - yet our local labour politicians are trying their best to engineer us to remain - how is this democracy ? how is this representing the working class ? Old labour/New labour/Corbynism - what a load of cobblers - these people are not fit for office

I voted to leave and will be voting for The Brexit Party. It's democracy at stake here, leave won and the result of the referendum should be respected. More Labour is not the answer.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
