The Salford Children's Holiday Camp, or as it's fondly known, the Jam Butty Camp, has been in existence for 93 years, and has given thousands of Salford children holidays by the sea.
In 2015, Salford City Council cut £50,000 of funding for the Camp and it has been reliant on donations and good will ever since, as well as bookings from loads of Salford schools.
On Saturday 15th June, a fundraising event has been organised in Prestatyn, where the camp is based, which will feature a live Bob Marley tribute band, a DJ, raffle and auction, and a free hot buffet, with a ticket price in advance or on the door of £10, and kids going free.
One of the Jam Butty Camps biggest supporters is IKON company director, Jim Livingstone, who was taken there as a kid...
"I have many fond childhood memories of my times at Prestatyn" he says "Thanks to the Jam Butty project I was able to enjoy a holiday by what was at the time my only means of leaving Salford.
"Many of us take holidays for granted, and although it's not a trip to Europe, or the Bahamas, some of these kids will never have left their local area, so to see a place like Prestatyn, the seaside and all the other things the area has to offer for the first time, is a real boost for all the children involved" he adds.
With child poverty increasing, it's vital that the Camp can continue its great work, and this fundraiser is going to be a big part of that...
