Last year, the #Millionsmissing campaign staged a protest outside Central Library in St Peter's Square, Manchester, in which dozens of pairs of shoes were laid out to represent sufferers of ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and the related CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) who are missing from their own lives.
There are around nine thousand people in Greater Manchester alone with these syndromes yet there's still no cure, no diagnostic tests, no GP education about the disease, and no effective NHS-approved treatments.
Next Saturday, at 2pm in St Peter's Square, another protest will take place to demand increased government funding for research, clinical trials, medical education and public awareness, complete with more shoes and speakers, including Karen Morris who runs an ME group in Salford, telling their stories.
The #Millionsmissing campaign is part of a global day of action.
