Upstairs at Salford Sports Village, off Littleton Road in Lower Kersal, there's personalised cards being made for an array of people who want something you can't get in the chain stores.
Today, a CD is being attached to a card, together with a guitar and the slogan 'You rock', for a teen's birthday. Here, this voluntary group, called Kersal Cards, are making greetings for every occasion and invite anyone who either wants to do crafts, or buy a special bespoke card, or who wants to just chat, to come along and join in.
"We're just a group who get together so we're not on our own, to combat loneliness as people say" says Carole Woodward "Even if you don't want to make cards you can come and socialise. We have people who just come and sit and gab. It's anything you want to do and everyone's welcome.
"Some people bring knitting or crochet, but we make all sorts of cards for birthdays, Christmas, or we can personalise them. Just tell us about the person, and what they like and we will customise them. You won't get one of these in the Card Factory, nor at the price, between £1 and £1.50."
Kersal Cards meet every Monday, except bank holidays, between noon and 3pm upstairs at the Library within Salford Sports Village, off Littleton Road in Lower Kersal.
