Stephen Yaxley Lennon, aka, Tommy Robinson, has stated that he intends to campaign in Salford tomorrow, Sunday 28th April, and Stand Up To Racism has called a counter demonstration at 10am in Bexley Square.
"We've been informed that he is coming to Salford again, and we think it's important that he again gets the message that he is not welcome in this city or across the North West where he has decided to stand for MEP" explains Ameen from Stand Up To Racism.
"We need to make sure there's a strong trade union and community response to say that he's not welcome in this city because for over 150 years we have welcomed migrants, beginning with Irish workers on the docks and in the mills, and we will not have him spread his hate and division."

"We want to make this statement about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson). Together on behalf of our community, we wish to speak out about his visit. Violence and racism have no place in our political discourse.
"Salford has a long history of welcoming migrant communities for over 150 years, beginning with Irish people coming to work in the mills and docks. The current city has been further enriched in recent times by new people choosing to settle in Salford. These people also have made a valued contribution to our city.
This is why we reject the politics of hate and division represented by 'Tommy Robinson' and we state clearly that he is not welcome here of anywhere else in the North West. He does not care about the jobs, homes and services the people of Salford and the North West need.
We encourage everyone to vote in the European Elections and make sure we reject his extremist views..."
