DISABLED MAN WHO’S HAD BENEFITS REMOVED CAN’T AFFORD TO BURY HIS FATHER

Star date: 2nd April 2019 'BROKEN BRITAIN' AS 63 YEAR OLD DISABLED MAN SEEKS HELP TO BURY DAD George Watt, a 63 year old disabled man, has had to go public to seek funds to bury his own father after around £700 of benefits per month were stopped following an assessment, which he is currently appealing. "He is the most lovely guy, does lots for homeless teams and was homeless himself a number of times" says friend Louise "The DWP has been cruel, taken his car and sanctioned him to the limit, and he can't afford to give his father a send off. While everyone is getting bored with Brexit, behind the political scenes 'Broken Britain' is alive and well, with ongoing poverty, ongoing sanctions and ongoing Universal Credit catastrophes. The latest horror comes via George Watt, a 63 year old disabled man who can't afford to bury his own father due to the DWP cutting £700 a month from his benefits, taking his mobility car off him and imposing various sanctions. All of which he is currently appealing. "He is the most lovely guy, does lots for homeless teams and was homeless himself a number of times" says friend Louise McTernan who helps out at the Manchester Homeless Group and Lifeshare "The DWP has been cruel, taken his car and sanctioned him to the limit, and he can't afford to give his father a send off. His father passed away on St Patrick's Day and is still in the hospital. He has applied for a council fund but he is totally heartbroken..." In a message to Louise, George, who used to live in Salford, opened his heart on having to ask for help to bury his father..."I feel utterly ashamed for having to do this but he deserves a half decent send off...".

| Ann Mcdonough-No, if you read, he had £700 a month taken FROM his benefits, so he's still getting a wedge, and as for his prescriptions and dental, they'll be free. |

| Wow Jeff so he is getting £175 a week that would probably mean he has to pay towards his mobility car plus other things like pertrol ,prescriptions etc but wow not being funny Jeff thank god you are not disabled and can work |

| I know of three people with terminal illness who were found fit for work,two died within three weeks of being found fit. The new assessments are two in one,PIP and ESA. How can any assessor be capable of knowing about mental health and Disability. Many assessors are only nurses and some are even midwives. How can the possibly be fit to assess all sickness's. Looks like more people going to lose money soon. |
