The last time Hooky performed live in Salford he was DJing for charity at the Ashley Brook pub in Langworthy. Now the total roadshow is moving a mile up the road to The Lowry, where the audience will get the full works of chat, Q&A, a bit of bass playing, an exhibition and never seen before footage of Joy Division, New Order, the Hacienda and out-takes from 24 Hour Party People.
Compered by ultra charismatic ex dope dealer and author of Mr Nice, Howard Marks, it should be an absolutely top night, as Hooky's revealed himself to be as good as gabbing as he is with the bass. And he'll be talking about stuff he couldn't include in the book because the lawyers got twitchy. Hooky has also promises to answer any questions the audience chucks at him…
"For me, it's about being honest" he says "If people have got any queries or if they want anything answering, they can have a go. I don't care what they say. It will be off the cuff and on the fly, although there have been occasions when I've been wrong footed.
"In Canada, this kid said 'You've been a musician for thirty years – the first 15 you never said anything (which we didn't because we were very shy) and the last 15 you won't shut up. Why?' So you do leave yourself open but that shows your personality."
We're sure loads of Salford people will have loads to say…this is your chance to grill him!
